Pig the Pug is a humorous children’s picture book. Aaron Blabey tells the tale of a Pug called Pig learning to share with his flatmate Trevor, who is a sausage dog. Throughout, this story Blabey has used a range of different language to create this well-written book. According to Michael Tunnell (2008, p. 18) ‘If a book is truly well written, the words between its covers are arranged in almost magical patterns that stir deep emotional responses in readers.' I believe Blabey has accomplished that.
Robert matured throughout the story and came of age to take over his father’s farm. The theme of the story is not just observed through the life lessons of Robert, but the lessons of everyday people. “A Day No Pigs Would Die” is a great story with a theme that can be understood by all. Everybody must come of age and Robert shows this threw his acceptance of new responsibilities, ability to assume new roles, and ability to take charge in
The novel The Pigman is written in the alternating point of views of the two main characters, John and Lorraine. John and Lorraine are sophomores in high school, whom had met and became friends because of their shared boredom of school and odd sense of humor. Lorraine was sitting alone on the bus and John sat down next to her. Out of nowhere, John started laughing and Lorraine was mortified that he was laughing at her. For the most part, Lorraine was very aware of what others thought of her.

While all three are responsible for Mr. Pignati’s death, a majority of the blame falls on the Pigman because he is oblivious to the truth, acts immaturelyunderage, and he is lonely. One reason the Pigman is responsible for his own death is because he is oblivious. Although his wife is deceased, he still speaks of her as if she is alive. For example, Mr Pignati says, “‘My wife collects pigs’” (43). His oblivion also shows when he states, ‘“My wife is not home just now’”
Robert Peck from A Day No Pigs Would Die had to do many different chores and tasks because they need to be completed. The book expresses an important theme, doing what needs to be done, and today this theme still fits in with kids doing their chores around their parents’ house, helping their Grandparents, as well as other tasks.
