The United Kingdom is one of the most outstanding capitalist countries in the world, and China is the second-largest economy in the world. Compare with these two countries, there are totally different primary education system, involving their starting age, culture of education, and so forth. There are many evidences that a delayed start to education is beneficial.
One obvious difference is culture of education. students prefer to ask why and solve problems by team, and if your answer is reasonable, even if it is different from the standard answer, the teacher also will agree with you. But the United Kingdom staring age at five and some regions starting age at 4. There is a study have compared children who started literacy lessons at ages 5 and 7, the results show that 5 years old children do not improve their reading development. By the age of 11 there are no difference in reading ability between the two groups, but the children who started literacy lessons at 5 developed less positive attitudes to reading (Whitebread, D.2013). Early going to school may be give children an advantage, but that the advantage is not sustained in the long term. And there is a suggestion that go to school early maybe increase anxiety and have a negative impact on children’s self-esteem and motivation to learn (Sharp, C.2002). Much research has shown that older ages children can get to score higher in school tests. This finding suggests that school starting age may be delayed from 5 to 6 or 7 is better for student (Sandra E. Black, Paul J. Devereux, and Kjell G. Salvanes,2008). There are many evidences that a delayed start to education is beneficial. Compare with china, maybe 6 is a good age to start primary school.
Overall, population lead to china have to do some choice that lead to high competition and passive learning. The United Kingdom have good education system, but the starting primary age is not good for children
