In order to pursue a college degree, the student must make the choice between learning in a traditional classroom versus learning online which can be challenging at times (Follis,2014). Some of the primary differences between learning in a classroom versus learning online are location, time allocation and communication with the instructor.

My previous college experience began with me waking up early, getting dressed, then driving an hour to attend classes all day on a campus. In addition to all the assignments associated with each different class, you also had to concern yourself with the commute in itself. In a traditional classroom the student sits face to face with an instructor which gives the student a sense of security and being part of something. In an online classroom, the student can sometimes feel like they do not receive the proper guidance from an instructor as well as feeling isolated in the virtual class setting, however here at Bethel the instructor is a phone call or click away (Bethel …show more content…

Of course, being around computers so much, I occasionally have to get our technical support group involved to help out with any computer related problems that may arise. I know in the short amount of time I have been going to Bethel, I have talked with V-Camp technical support on more than one occasion while working through some technical issues. I am very pleased to know that those guys are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (Bethel University, 2014). I think being familiar with computers and our V-Camp technical support group will give me skills that will help me on my academic journey.

I am also tasked daily to communicate with other employees using e-mail at work. At times, we may have to work through complex issues by communicating through a computer. Of course, this involves not only writing skills but also typing skills as well. I always try to communicate in a way where my co-workers can understand what I am thinking by what I am writing through e-mail messages. In addition, reaching out and communicating with my support groups at Bethel by using my writing skills will be crucial to my success (Bethel University,
