What do we know about people that commit crimes and why they perform these crimes? For many years, there have been several crimes that happen for so many reasons, not knowing why these crimes were committed in the first place. When it comes to killers, taking away a person's life it is meaningful, as long as they get away with it. “The Cask of Amontillado” by Edgar Allan and “Lamb to the Slaughter” by Roald Dahl are two short stories about two people who committed crimes for different reasons and got away with it. Many people kill because they have a strong motive, troubling childhood, or mental illness. People that seek revenge always end up killing their victims, so they can be satisfied that they have achieved their goal by killing and that makes them feel that they reclaimed their dignity back. Many feel tormented if they stay with the humiliation and do not avenge themselves – a sort of cleansing. In addition, many people with revenge against others don’t think of doing it immediately. Revenge builds up by time. For several people, they tend to forgive over time, but when it gets to the point where the motive to kill that person gets heightens because that person without realizing is making it worse, which makes the other angry. Then it becomes harder to not think of revenge and that's when a crime happens. Many times, we control our actions, but not how people respond to. Some people might offend another willfully, ignorantly, or unintentionally, but the effect on the person is still the same.
