It is the person and their physical, emotional, and psychological needs that are the basic focus of nursing’s attention. In order to care for a patient, the nurse must incorporate all these needs. For example, providing reassurance with an anxious patient who just finished hip surgery. Care also plays a major part when taking care of a unique patient. Caring influences my personal philosophy because it is the most important aspect of nursing.
A nurse's quality of care can provide patients with a positive healing environment. A nurse's part can vary greatly from performing a complicated procedure to simply holding a patient's hand to provide comfort. A nurse must be able to have various characteristics such as being compassionate, knowledgeable, skillful, open minded and most importantly, a mediator. As previously mentioned, nurses are also educators. They educate patients as well as their support system in order to promote healthy lifestyles and continuation of proper
No wonder Nurse was voted to be a more honest profession. The willingness to help others with compassionate, nonjudgmental, truthfulness, and faithful took a degree of trust between the nurse-patient relationship. Showing positive attitude, no matter what’s the patient perception outcome would be –nurse highly respect wishes and beliefs. Being professional, one must exhibit an independent performance, which patient can rely on truthful information when advocate. Ethical principle characteristics from the inside are golden values, but it is also carried out the same values for outside appearance.
Being non-judgemental, seeing value in every person, seeing all points of view, being calm and empathetic, and desiring and working toward peace and resolution. Qualities like being non-judgemental and seeing all points of view are great characteristics of a nurse because it allows the patient to feel like they are just as important as everyone else and feel understood. Being calm and empathetic is a good quality to help keep conflict from happening and resolve it as peacefully as possible. Being calm is also good in high-risk situations because it will help a nurse keep a clear head and make better judgments and it will help the patient to feel more comfortable and safe in the situation. Overall, they are caring and provide a calming presence which is extremely important in nursing
Without caring each other, it would be hard to live a healthy life and promote health. When people think deeply about caring for people who need care, they immediately think how they can be a part of it. In order to take part in a caring, becoming a nurse is the best way.
Being a nurse is not always as easy and picture perfect as people paint it to be. A nurse is expected to act perfectly professional, even when tears, anger and all-around emotions are begging to come out. A nurse must always be the one that has their life together, especially when others do not. They are there to be the ones to hold and care for others in desperate times of need. Nurses are expected to be more than just a nurse, but rather an advocate, caregiver, support system and professional.
Being a nurse is more than just giving medications, changing linen or providing personal care to patients. Nursing encompasses integrity,
Compassion in nursing can also be demonstrated by the function of the heart in the human anatomy. The heart provides blood to all organs of the body without limit and it supplies blood fairly. The Nursing & Midwifery Council defines compassion as this assignment will be looking at the importance of compassion within mental health nursing and why compassion is at the heart of nursing and how it should be offered to patients and their families despite their background or differences. Looking at some real life scenarios within the health care environment, this assignment will demonstrate how failure of compassion can affect the care given to mental ill patients.
Ethics is another large component in patient care. The nurses are extremely dedicated to the patients and they make it their mission to advocate for the patients. They are also compassionate. They are caring and always show the utmost concern for their patients. However, as nurses show compassion they sometimes tend to form biases.
However, a competent nurse in my mind should try to avoid those personal factors while giving care to patients. The basic responsibilities of nurse are promote health and give care to patients. Even the belief of patient is different from me, I will still try to respect individual differences and give standardized care as it is my role to be fair while treating different patients and not to be judgmental. Attitude determines the altitude of our
Caring in nursing is very critical in order to have a therapeutic relationship between a patient and nurse. Most nurses choose to nurse as a profession because of their aspiration to care for patients. Caring in the nursing profession takes place every time when nurses have contact with patients. Nurses need to make sure that they aren 't there just to collect their paycheck, but to caring their patient. Appearance is what other people look patient might judge, the nurse by their appearance.
When looking up the word “nurse” in the dictionary, one will find the following definition of: “somebody who cares for a sick person.” However, this definition is too basic. In my opinion nursing is something more than taking care of a sick person. I also consider that there is more about nursing than the simple definition of this term. Commonly, being a nurse has been the dream of my whole life; first of all, because it is a very important and gratifying profession.
Also, as a nurse I will have to be responsible of ensuring the well-being of my patients and of performing my job with ethics.
The scientific definition of a nurse is “a person educated and licensed in the practice of nursing”, which is “the practice in which a nurse assists the individual, sick or well, in the performance of those activities contributing to health or its recovery” (Myers, 2009, 1300-1301). To me, the definition of nurse is someone who is non-judgmental, caring, skilled, and an ethically moral person whose main focus is the patient. They must be a caregiver, teacher, communicator, and advocate. They must be honest, truthful, and respectful in all aspects of their care. Nurses must always show the patient dignity and respect without judgment.
What does nursing mean to me? Nursing means helping people heal, meeting their needs while they are in your care, listening to concerns, protecting them from harm, and educating them how to care for themselves while treating them with dignity, compassion and respect and giving of yourself to the care of people and community. It is having compassion for people and their health and being a humanitarian, making sure they receive the best care possible. Nurses must also treat families of patients with kindness, realizing they are going through a stressful situation also. Nursing is a responsibility to provide the best care regardless of the patient’s age, race, religion, sex, disability, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or their past.
