Pay for knowledge plan includes of Competency base pay and skill base pay. Competency base pay is based on the characteristics, rather than the performance of individuals. It is usually applied to managerial or professional employees as over the time period individual competencies are improved and developed. While Skill based pay is based on the specific skills and capabilities of individual employees, rather than on the specific task being carried out. It usually applies to operational level employees.

This process would usually take 3-4 months and once they have completed the training they can start working towards practical training in others on the job training. Example, when installing a software some is supervising them or working as a training under the supervision of a senior more experience colleague. This would require 1 year of minimum training.
Level 2 requires employees to have the knowledge of being able to install basic systems and software applications. They must also be able to perform quality control tests when required or after installation.
Level 3 requires an employee to able to perform advanced module testing for system module and conduct statistical analysis. They should have the knowledge about the interference involved with system and be able to repair it. Once an employee performs exceptionally well at this level they can proceed to the next and final level.
Level 4, an employee at this level is considered to have immense knowledge and skills towards its jobs or duties. At this level an employee should have the knowledge and skills to plan and install a new hardware when required and they should be able to perform analyses for the root causes of installation and able to solve
