Many people are visual learners. Sign language is all about visuals. People in the deaf community, as well as others who are not in it but have taken up the language, use fingerspelling, signing, expressions, and movements as well. Eyes are used fluently to help express certain words, phrases and meanings. People have said that eyes are the key to a soul.
Veditz is very clear about wanting to preserve the beauty of sign language without asking them to do anything. Veditz says in his speech, “We need these films to preserve and pass on our beautiful signs. As long as there are deaf people on earth there will be signing. And as long as we have our films, we can preserve our beautiful signs in their old purity.”
In 1830, Gallaudent retired from ASD and in 1850 Clerc out from the school and end his taught at the ASD. In 1863, The American School for the Deaf had been established increase Twenty- two branches in the United States. Before 1880 Gallaudent’s son name Edward, he was a person who establish Gallaudet College and he also can use ASL same as use English Language. When 1880 come a new teaching method call oralism that focus on teaching how use speak and lip read with no sign languages. In 1960, ASL was became an official Language and still grow.

Sign language was their true language. It was their natural way of communicating . I believe that it should be the deaf person's choice about learning to speak. Forcing it on someone and prohibiting from using their own language was not the right way to go about things. I'm glad that the time where the oral method was forced on the deaf is over and that they are now free to use sign language.

This was the life of many hard-of-hearing and deaf people during the 1960’s and earlier.
Unbroken, a novel written by Laura Hillenbrand, outlines the horrors of being captured by Japanese troops during the Second World War. Because of the ethics that the Japanese people had, the Geneva Convention was hardly ever followed, and the captives were rarely ever treated well. The Red Cross was blatantly lied to, meaning that to the outside world, the Japanese Prison Camps were treating their husbands and sons well. On the interior, however, it was apparent that the prisoners had to do whatever it would take to survive. Men stole goods, communicated in many ways, and even had ploys to either kill camp officials, or to even run away.
Amy Tan and Richard Rodriquez both grew up in Northern California, to immigrant families. Amy Tan became famous for her book, “The Joy Luck Club” that later became a movie. Richard wrote “The Hunger of Memory.” Before they became famous though, they both struggled to learn English. In “Mother Tongue.”

Once the leader realizes his superiority over the rest of population, he need something to emphasize his unique status. The initial change is his house and it gradually converts into majestic buildings that we usually call palaces now. Emperors construct and design these palaces in different purposes. They are not only beautiful architecture but also the heart of politics or economics in their countries.
Someone as Alexander Graham Bell, who is naturally considered one of the greatest inventors in the hearing world, believed that the language used by the deaf community was not a language. The hearing world is the most dominant one, there is no doubt. However, there has to be an understanding that not everyone who is different from the “typical” is “atypical”. A language is nothing but patterns of signs, symbols, and/or sounds that are used to convey meaning. In what manner does sign language not fit the category of a language?
Growing up in a small-town I was literally in a culture bubble. There were almost no deaf people. I just never had the opportunity to converse with someone who is deaf. As I was reading this book I noticed my internal motivation for learning ASL was changing. I now want to learn as much ASL as I possibly can, so I can chat with those I come in contact with that are deaf or hard of hearing.
Mark was born in 1966 to two deaf parents. Although the circumstances and troubles his mother had during the process of his birth he was born healthy and hearing. Mark tells that his parents were forbidden from teaching him sign language. I cant image growing up with deaf parents and have little communication with them. Deaf or not parents should always be encouraging to their children to learn to speak with their children.
Holcomb (2013) referred to the final category in Deaf Culture humor as Visual humor. According to Holcomb (2013), visual humor “… takes advantage of the graphic visual properties of American Sign Language to make humorous stories even funnier.” (p.165). Visual humor relies on exaggerated facial expressions, descriptions, or mocking impersonations of one’s manner of communication style (Holcomb, 2013). American sign language or ASL is a complete language that uses signs made by hand gestures, facial expressions and your body posture. It is the primary communication of those who are deaf or hard of hearing. Sign language is universal. Where did this beautiful language come from?
Other sources state that there is not a high demand for the use and learning of Sign Language in lots of lower education schools. Michael Johnson, a teaching and learning consultant declares, “You cannot just offer it and there will be a demand for it.” If not many students do not show an interest in the class, there is not a point in offering the class and spending lots of time finding the staffing and resources for the class. Schools are trying to prepare students the best they can for their future, so schools teach the languages that a majority of people are speaking. If more people are speaking a certain language, schools will try to offer that language to prepare the students (Johnson).
