How many parents wish they understood why or what their crying toddler wanted? Communication with infants and toddlers is challenging, especially those with hearing problems. Around the world, many parents have difficulty communicating with their children. With the use of sign language, it makes this process easier for the parent and child to communicate regardless of their hearing ability. All children should learn sign language as an early way to communicate.
American sign language or ASL is a complete language that uses signs made by hand gestures, facial expressions and your body posture. It is the primary communication of those who are deaf or hard of hearing. Sign language is universal.

As with everything there are good things and things that you may not agree with. Parents want proof that baby sign language is beneficial. Here are some pros, one is to eliminate frustration. Most children know what they want, but do not know how to communicate and that frustration is eliminated because of baby signing. It also eliminates parent 's frustration with playing the "what do you want game?" Toddlers will be able to sign instead (aidenofthetower, 2016). Secondly, it promotes language skills. Toddlers can start understanding language and the ability to sign what they are thinking. Sign language helps develop a way to practice language in baby and toddlers. Next, sign language develops understanding of emotion. When children can start to communicate what they want and need and able to tell you how they are feeling, they have a feeling of accomplishment. Most classes can be taken in the evening at colleges or sometimes offered on a weekend. A qualified tutor that knows the language can help you work toward the qualifications to be a great signer. Classes are also great because you get to meet people and get to see the signs used face-to-face (Parfitt, 2017). You can also learn sign language on your own by watching videos. There are many resources for this such as, BSL zone or even YouTube. In watching the videos, you can rewind them and watch them over and over in your own home (Parfitt, 2017). Online courses can also be a way of learning this language. This way you can choose too if you would want day or evening classes. Online courses are flexible and can be accomplished on your own time and in the comfort of your home. You can practice and there is no pressure to complete it.
