Conditioning is defined as the process training to become fit by a certain regimen. People and or animals can be conditioned mentally or physically. This occurs without even being noticed in our world’s society due to humans being so used to it and it is easily expressed in the novel, Brave New World in our eyes because is so much different than our way of life.. In our world, humans are conditioned greatly around technology as people in Brave New World are around their way of life in thinking everything in their lives are perfect how they are and individualism is viewed as bad in society. The World State, which is their form of government in Brave New World, has already gained the control of the minds of citizens and is working to maintain control throughout the book. By conditioning citizens from creation, society is developed to become incapable of pain, either psychological or emotional. The people are taught to love their lives and be content. Children are conditioned to believe and trust in the government from the time they are “born” and despise even the thought of individualism. This is contradictory to the motto of society that is emphasized in the book, “Community, Identity, Stability.” The society has evolved into a community that has no need for nature. This society functions by man controlling man. Our modern day world has made technological advances that are similar to the ones portrayed in Brave New World. The thought of making babies via test tubes was first conceived by biologist JBS Haldane and Julian Huxley in the 1920’s. Julian Huxley is the brother of Aldous Huxley, the later author of Brave New World. In 1978, just forty years ago, Louise Brown, the first test tube baby was created in our world. When talk of test tube babies is brought up, the novel is often referenced. Every new advancement in the making of test tube babies is credited to Huxley and is a step closer to achieving the vision he had of the future. Technology methods are being developed
