The saint that I chose for my confirmation saint is Saint Kateri Tekakwitha. I chose her because of her story. The story of her conversion to Christianity and her extraordinary holiness was an inspiration to me when I was searching for saints. She was the first Native American Saint in the United States of America and Canada. When she was four, she contracted smallpox which left her face disfigured, impairing her eyesight, and depriving her of her parents.

Dear Diary, Today I spent my evening connecting with the Holy Spirit. I had my family and friends there to support and congratulate me as I made the sacrament of confirmation. The massive witch hunt of the early modern period came to be due to the concept of witchcraft becoming more and more present with reality. Religious Reformations officially started the illusion of witches and demons walking among society. This is the case when the concept of the devil gets molded with the gods of norse mythology, which are Pagan gods. This caused society to fear Pagans and view them as devil’s servants walking the earth alongside them. This illusion was vivified when the concept of Sabbath, a ceremonial gathering of witches to worship the devil, was introduced and non-Christian religious groups got targeted for practicing their religion secretly.

In the early Roman Empire, when Claudius, Nero, Domitian, and Trajan were emperors, Christianity was banned and Christians were persecuted. Nevertheless, Christians found ways to spread Christianity, and many people converted. As trials occurred and the Empire lost good leaders, the people took security in Christianity and other religions. Christianity grew during the Roman Empire because Constantine helped create the Edict of Milan, Constantine had imperial favor toward The Church, and there was trade routes to spread Christianity to different areas.
Certainly it is putting our faith, hope, trust and confidence in Him and His word. It is “standing on the promises of God,” as the hymn puts it.
