Nature of support Conflict theory is a struggle between opposing forces or interests. It is practiced by the elite who tried to obtain it by any means possible, by suppressing the poor and powerless. There are several different practice skills that social workers can be influence to meet their goals. Problem solving skill, cognitive behavioral skill and psychodynamic theory skill just to name a few. Problem solving assists the clients with problems. Social worker teaches clients how to develop their own solutions. Cognitive behavioral focus on the fact workers assists the clients in identifying patterns of irrational and self-destructive thoughts and behaviors. Psychodynamic is personality in terms of conscious and unconscious. The social work values that are embraced are, commitment to clients. While the ideal of equal opportunity is espoused, it is far from a reality. Women and minorities continue to “peak out” at a low level of management. Kelborn (1995) (pg. 89). The problem is so many people are discriminate based on age, race, and gender. Which this is a global problem, however, in America culture sexual orientation has also served as a basis for discrimination and oppression across cultures, socioeconomic strata, and gender lines. This model of discrimination and oppression should be contraindicated, people should have equal rights without being oppressed no matter what the gender, or race.
