The comparison presented by the speaker shows the conflicting ideologies of a dictatorship and a democracy. Although the majority of countries today have opted for a more moderate welfare state, there are still a few elitist countries with a dangerous amount of power out there. According to the source, these countries are lead by paranoid and corrupted leaders; as a result their country is at a standstill with no economic or political development. Canada’s government is based on the techniques of democracy such as, free speech, individual rights, political choice, personal freedoms and division of power. The way Canada functions is almost parallel to the perspective of the speaker, being that Canada has the Charter of Rights and Freedoms to protect our liberties and to maintain equality. The citizens of Canada live relative peace with a mixed economy where individuals can thrive and reach their full potential. Canada is proud of being multicultural, as a result no one fells less valued (racially). Since everyone has the right to vote and there are mandatory election every five years, corruption in the government is avoided. Also the Canadian government is divided into three powers the executive, legislative and judicial, having these three power on a system of checks and balances makes the chance of corruption a solid zero percent. Although Canada matches the source, there are still subjects that need to be addressed seriously.
