Conflicts In There's Someone Inside Your House By Makani Young

Throughout the book There’s Someone Inside Your House the protagonist Makani Young suffers with many conflicts, some being more obvious to the readers than others. The reader is brought to the attention of the main problem in the story, the raging serial killer hunting down Makani. However, although this conflict affects all of the characters in the story Makani is also suffering with more internal problems. Having to move to a new town with no prior friends there, not being able to see her parents, and the constant nagging feeling of being alone in a completely different environment from her previous home in Hawaii. These have affected Makani all throughout the book and have caused her to have major character development. One major conflict the book is centered around is how Makani is wanted dead by a serial-killer classmate, David. Makani believes the reason he wants her dead is because of a secret she has been working very diligently to keep away from others. On page 203 of the book the reader gets to learn what the secret is as Makani tells the story to her friends. The plot continues on and we see so much more development in the friendships. Makani starts to feel like maybe she will be accepted after all, she grows throughout the book and proves to be a wonderful friend. She protects these people, and even puts her own life at risk to save Darby (one of her closest friends). On page 274 the reader finds a quote that says “Makani threw her body atop of his, risking her own life for a boy she calls her friend.”, this shows major character development. From feeling like she didn't belong and was all alone, she changes and realizes that some things are worth fighting
