No punishment has the power to stop crime. When well learn something mentally we are less likely to do it again because we learned it ourselves. Confucius ideology of punishment which is when you do something wrong you will feel the wrong of your action mentally making you not do it again. For example taking someone 's food if someone physically hurt you to make you stop doing it would cause you not to do it again it makes you stop that action at that moment, but if you took the food then felt remorse for taking it then you would be less likely to do it again because you learned it from your mind. Laws are meant to make an order in our chaotic world , but since we have free will it will never work. We must connect to what they believe in or truth or else we are wasting our time and energy on a failing ideology which is utilitarianism.
