The Constitution of the United States of America is what released us from the rule of a monarch (a ruler that controls everything and is above the law, they also make the law) and lead to the New and Free World. The Constitution made sure that no one person or group in the government can have more power than the others. The Magna Carta was signed in 1215 by King John of England. The Magna Carta put many regulations in place. One of the regulations that was put in place was that it limited the power of the King. The King was no longer above the laws and made the King have to abide by the laws that are in place. This meeting was called the First Continental Congress. At the end of the meeting, the representatives decided to create their own ban against trading with Great Britain, hoping that with this ban, the government will change their attitude towards the colonies. The officials in Britain considered this ban as an act of irresponsible defiance of the government and arranged to arrest multiple of the leading defiant colonists in Massachusetts. After this happened, some of the extreme colonists were already preparing to go to war against Great Britain and made their own version of an army called the Minutemen. Minutemen were people with guns and ammunition, who could be warned and be ready, in a minute, to fight with their guns. The Second Continental Congress was formed to decide on what government they should have when the colonies won their independence from Great Britain because some of the leaders of the colonies foresaw the need to have a government for when they needed to deal with relations off the shores of the colonies. They also needed to figure out how to deal with economic and commercial problems. Economic problems is when the government has too much debt that they can’t pay off.
