As a parent whether or not to “control” who your teenager can date is a big decision, but an easy one to make. While many parents think they should control who there teenager can date, the right choice however is to not control who there teenager can date. That is because of what Romeo and Juliet taught us, people's personal stories and the development of the teen brain. The number one reason why parents shouldn’t control who there teen can date, is based on Romeo and Juliet. First, if Romeo and Juliet's relationship, wasn’t forbidden, then there relationship didn’t have to be in secret. Which in turn caused several unfortunate events to happen, which could have been avoided if Romeo and Juliet's relationship didn’t have to be hidden. For instance if Romeo and Juliet's marriage would have been known, then Tybalt wouldn’t have been intent on dueling him. Which would lead to Tybalt, and Mercutio not dying, Romeo not getting banished, and eventually Romeo and Juliet not taking their own lives. …show more content…

First, teens go through mood swings (Mascarelli 1), so if a parent forbids there teen from dating a certain person, then they will just do it anyways, eventually making horrible mistakes in the process, since they would just want to defy their parents. Second when a you are a teenager, your brain grows astromentaly(Dobbs 1). Most of that growth, is made by making mistakes(PBS 1). So in turn if parents let their teen date freely, then when, the make mistakes by dating the wrong people then they will learn from the mistakes and make better decision later in
