In the movie (Rings), a reviled tape goes round that promised to kill any individual who watched it following seven days. She was a stranded and relinquished young lady (Samara) who had psychic capacities which inadvertently tormented and even killed everyone around her, driving her folks to kill her by tossing her into a well, getting by for seven days and in the long run biting the dust. A VCR with the tape in it arrives in Professor Gabriel hands so he and a gathering of individuals called "The Sevens" are included in a trial including the reviled tape, watching and recording them, before passing the assignment to someone else called a "tail." Now they need to discover where her body was covered, copy it and "set her free." Shortly after, Julia and Holt (the main survivors) return home. While Julia is in a shower, Holt tries to make sense of the blemish on Julia's hand called Braille. Holt interprets it, finding it signifies "resurrection". Julia hacks up a string of hair, from which a cicada is conceived. She looks into a mirror and considers Samara to be her appearance. Julia's duplicate of the video is all of a sudden sent to everybody on her contact list and soon turns into a web sensation on the web.
