English Formative Throughout the years, there are books that are transformed into films. These films is all based on the original stories from the books. However, there is normally some difference after the transformation of the story. After reading the graphic novel and watching the film of “Coraline” many similarities and differences can be seen between the two versions. This graphic novel by Neil Gaiman and the film directed by Henry Sellicks have characters that could be such examples. The character other miss Spink and other miss forcible have very different performances. As well, mothers personality is very different between the two version. In the film, at the start of the Graphic novel, the ld ladies and Coraline was having tea. Where the old ladies is reading Coraline’s tea leaves(a way of predicting the future events). The old ladies found out “You know Coraline, you are in terrible danger.” The old ladies are the part Coraline starts getting advices and start knowing that she is in danger. The old ladies, Miss Spink and Forcible played the role of assistance in both Graphic novel and film version. However in the novel version, the assistance part of the hero cycle was in the very front, telling Coraline that she is in danger and giving her some tips. Where in the film the assistance part of the hero cycle is then delayed a lot in the film. The assistance part is delayed giving Coraline more time to go into the other world. The time given for Coraline to go to the other world lets Coraline to like the World more and more so that it could help creates more tension for Coraline and the other mother. Except for the differences between the two versions, there are also similarities that is important to the storyline. For example the stone that the two old ladies give to Coraline is one of the most important activity that had happened in both versions. This stone is also the main part of how and why Coraline found the souls, or in the film sense the eyes of the
