Tragedy, mistakes, and secrets, all part of “The Westing Game” book and “Get a Clue” movie (which is based of the book) . Even though the book and movie had several similarities, there was also HUGE differences. Like, how point of view, vengence, and purple waves all took a part in the “Westing Game” plot and storyline.
Point of view… the change of our perspective. In the “Westing Game” book, and “Get a Clue” movie, the point of view differs. The book is in 3rd person point of view, while the movie is told in 1st point of view/ Turtle’s point of view. The point of view changed how the story was told, for example, in the book we got to know everything about the characters, their secrets, their clues, their ideas. Vengeance… the start of the Westing madness. Vengeance was a huge part in the Westing Game, and how the story was told. In both the book and movie, vengeance was served to Berthe Erica Crow. Although, in the book, Sam Westing was subtle with vengeance, and in no means wanted to hurt Crow. The movie on the other hand, Sam Westing’s goal was to let Crow know that it was her (Crow’s) fault for Violet’s death. At the end of the book, Mr. Westing left Crow money, although in the movie, Mr. Westing left nothing but guilt for Crow. Mr. Westing’s take on vengeance, changed our outlook and him, and his personality. Purple Waves… the spark of curiosity, in the book “The Westing Game” Purple Waves started a long time ago, when two boys, went into the Westing Mansion and later came out screaming “PURPLE WAVES” . Ever since that they have been mortified. This story excited Turtle, and made her want to see what was happening in the Westing Mansion. Although, in the movie “Purple Waves” didn’t even exsite, Turtle only went in for money, not so much
