These allegations of brutality against the inmates are going more viral now than ever.
The inmates were treated so poorly that they felt they needed to retaliate against the guards. Working in a prison is a possible career choice for me, this book taught me issues that can arise while working in a prison. As a correctional officer, I want to be a productive and effective, I will be friendly with the inmates but not become friends. Treating them with respect will often times result in them giving respect back, which will make them trust and respect your authority. I will be attentive of my surroundings and inmate interactions.
My reactions to this article was at first I was confused on what I was reading until I went back and re- read the article once more. My emotions quickly changed once I re- read the article. I went from being confused to a state of shock, and what the inmates, and correctional officers went through. Reading this article was very interesting in the beginning, and even in the middle, but towards the end it did start to get a little
In the article “‘I Was Terrified’: Inmates Say They Paid a Brutal Price for a Guard’s Injury” by Tom Robbins. Mr. Robbins talks about the fact that many prisoners get brutally beat by the corrections officers that are on the clock. he talks about many cases during this article and the things the correctional officers did to these inmates. In order for it to be effective one must learn the tips and tricks of the veterans of the job, not just using knowledge from the seven weeks of training. Although that will be effective, I feel as if personal experiences are more efficient and useful in succeeding in the job. “You’re going to learn, CO, that some things they taught you in the Academy can get you killed.” (99) Conover realizes that many officers do not follow the rules that were instructed in the Academy. In order to be a strong and acknowledged correctional officer one must bend the rules a bit to get the inmates to comply.

In the New Mexico Penitentiary 75% of the offenders have been convicted of a violent crime either in the community or in the prison system. Inside the penitentiary officers use force on average once a week to maintain control and security of the facility. Many of the new rookies are in corrections because they need a job that makes enough money to support their family and self. The mental stress that comes with the job often makes these rookies rethink their choice in career.
Conover is a part of this media frenzy who are quick to judge us when something has gone awry. This holds true with many departments but Corrections doesn 't net good press let alone acknowledgement from the public for engaging in a career that is challenging, highly stressful, tedious, thankless and away from the publics view. I 'm not looking for kudos or a pat on the back but at least give us the benefit of the doubt before deeming Correction Officers as lazy brainless sloths incable of securing any other positions in law enforcement. Conover not only alludes to the fact Correction Officers are not only limited educationally but by the luck of the draw Officers are only a

These guards were paid at the lower end of the salary scale and a lack of advancement opportunities that brought dissatisfactions. In order to correct this structural defect, prison officials should offer higher salaries, clear and concise advancement opportunities. Using these techniques, prison official would influence guards to remain longer and have pride in their
I would like to go the the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy because it would train me to become a police officer. The location of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy is P.O Box 313 on 5402 Sugar Grove Road in Plainfield, Indiana. There are many things to do around the academy. So at the end of the day when students don’t have anything else to do they can roam the city and have some fun and because they do not serve dinner there is a wide variety of restaurants that the students can eat at. There are many buildings at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.

In this case, there are no renowned CO’s. The happenings inside the institutions are praised by the sheriff's, deputies and superintendents, but are not public knowledge. There are several Corrections Officers that died while on duty, this would be a perfect time to honor one. Corrections Officer Timothy Davison died on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 after being attacked by an inmate. “Davidson was escorting a 37 year old prison inmate from a dayroom to his cell in the Barry B. Telford Unit of the New Boston Prison facility when the inmate attacked Officer Davison.”
In order to do this they need to make new centers to help prisoners inside better themselves. In Alabama prisons may soon shut down 14 of its prisons for overcrowding, neglect, and violence in the state’s correction systems. In the prison St. Clair Holman in Alabama the prison system makes prisoners act different. There is no safety, security or supervision. “We have people being killed, sexually assaulted, raped, stabbed on daily basis at St. Clair, Holman, and multiple facilities; it’s a systemwide problem,” said Charlotte Morrison, a senior attorney at the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI), which represents Alabama prisoner.”

There are three components that make up the criminal justice system – the police, courts, and correctional facilities – they all work together in order to protect individuals and their rights as a citizen of society to live without the fear of becoming the victim of a crime. Crime, simply put is when a person violates criminal law; the criminal justice system is society’s way of implementing social control. When all three components of the criminal justice work together, it functions almost perfectly. For a person to enter the criminal justice system, the process must begin with the law enforcement.
