My wife and I have been accused of witchcraft without any substantial evidence and hereby request the court to hear our claims. We have been bombarded with false accusations and I am here to resolve the issue and to show our innocence with evidence unlike others in this room. Innocent people have been accused of the involvement of witchcraft without proof because the honestly of these girls are kept on a high platform. This very court is corrupted by their own religion and they obviously can’t see pass the lies that have surfaced. Religion, selfishness, and corruption in this society has caused destruction within ourselves to occur, but hopefully you can all view my perspective. People have used the accusations of witchery upon each other as a way to direct revenge and to achieve what they want to acquire. The court also, pressures the accused into accepting their false involvement in witchcraft. I was one of the people who, in the end, became annoyed and accepted the accusation but I confessed to my lies, “Because it is my name! Because I cannot have another in my life! Because I lie and sign myself to lies! Because I am not worth the dust on the feet of them that hang! How may I live without my name? I have given you my soul; leave me my name,” these are the words I spoke because my reputation would be blotched in the society and I would be left powerless. Power played a role in my decision to give names of the innocent and it took over my self-control, leading to lies and deceit. An appeal to ignorance has been made because the loss of power or control conflicted Mary Warren’s mind. Mary Warren told the court that the I was the devil who has been torturing the girls who accused many of witchcraft. Mary only did this because she noticed that her argument against the girls was too weak for everyone to believe, so she changed her claim and inserted the blame on the me. She felt powerless and regained it by asserting her initial position and immediately gained the court’s trust again. The situation
