The experiment overall was nicely conducted, and results were found through the information gathered. The dependent variable was established very quickly; furthermore, we can find the dependent variable was whether the athletes played a contact sport or a sport like baseball, where most concussions come from being hit by the ball. The independent variable is the number of concussions the test subjects obtained. Ultimately they could not control how many concussions each individual obtained but they controlled which individuals were chosen and what test were ran. The results that ran throughout the whole experiment was an overall success, the results show that multiple compared to single occurring concussions do not have an effect on P3 suppression.
Commonly known as juice, roids, and gym candy, anabolic steroids or PEDs (performance enhancing drugs) are illegally used for unfair advantages by many players in Major League Baseball. Since the 1930’s, steroids have been available for use. Anabolic steroids are a synthetic type of male hormone, testosterone, that are used in combination with a workout. Also similar to steroids are human growth hormones commonly known as HGH. Both anabolic steroids and HGH help contribute to endurance during a hard workout, greater muscle mass and strength, and quicker recovery.
The question which is on most people minds is what to do with the records of those who are caught using steroids. In a 2005 ESPN poll, more than 60% of respondents wanted the player who used steroids to have their records erased and to eliminate them from the possibility in joining the Baseball Hall of Fame (Cohen, 2005). In an NPR poll, 45% wanted a steroid abuser to have their records stricken from the archives of baseball (Memmott, 2013). MLB should implement a program where on day one all players are briefed about what will happen and to ensure it has consequences. One implementation to this policy is that those in violation while using steroids will cause their team to forfeit any and all games in which that player played.
Steroids are becoming more popular in major sports, and athletes use them to get an edge on their performance. In Zev Chafets article, “Led Steroids into the Hall of Fame”, Chafets gives great examples using logos of how steroids are used in major sports and how we should accept their use. Chafets explains that we should accept steroid use, for example, in major league baseball, and let the athletes be eligible for the Hall of Fame. To begin with, many major league athletes use substances that help them perform better and make them feel better. To be an athlete in a high league, pressure is always on and the performance really matters.
Since the dawn of the Olympic Games in ancient Greece, athletes have been competing against one another for honor and physical supremacy. The Olympic Games were a sporting competition based on honor, personal improvement and success. The victors of the contest gained no financial compensation for their accomplishments, as the honor of being crowned champion, and thus earning the coveted gold medal, was sufficient motivation for all athletes. There was no lust for money or riches that propelled the athletes to train vigorously and improve their chances of winning. There was no thought of possibly cheating in order to increase chances at victory.
The debate over baseball player’s doping has been around since the 1990’s. The players of today are always try to get that competitive edge in baseball so they can end up in the hall of fame. They want to be the Mark McGwire or Barry Bonds were the players can produce record breaking stats without training or working for that title. Any MLB player that as ever doped or has taken steroids should banded from professional baseball and not allowed in the hall of fame.

A lot comes into play while doing it like eating a healthy diet and sustaining an active workout log to track your progress. Drugs are a big issue in the sports industry. Many athletes will take performance-enhancing drugs, such as steroids, to help them play better. These types of drugs should not be allowed because it gives the player a greater advantage over other players who are playing with their natural ability. This issue could be solved if there was monthly drug testing and if the drug was not so easy to get ahold of. Many major league baseball players are getting caught using performance-enhancing drugs.
The use of anabolic steroids in the sport has had its positive impact on athlete’s performance and the sport itself, especially its impact on raising both levels of performance and competition in sporting events. Anabolic steroids and PEDS are sold to athletes to allow them look, perform and feel better after heavy workouts. Probably there is no athlete a live at any level that has bot considered using steroids at least in some point of their career. Furthermore, any normal person when they workout, they are going to break down their muscles and it usually takes about 48 hours in between workouts for your muscles to repair themselves which is called muscle recovery.
While doing my project I have learned that Anabolic steroids are highly used in many countries. Most of the people who are abusing Anabolic steroids are the athletes who are usually training for the olympics. The athletes who do decide to use anabolic steroids will do a cycle about a year before the olympics. The reason they do it a year before is because, The olympics drug test the athletes prior to them starting. Even Though they take steroids a year before the olympics begin, Athletes are still able to maintain size due to strict dieting.
When it comes to sports, it is hard to know whether an athlete has natural talent or is cheating. Having a strong desire to win makes an athlete do anything to achieve it, even if it means cheating. There are many ways to cheat in sports, but the biggest way of cheating is by using steroids. Steroids are one of the world’s most controversial drugs. People have positive and negative points of view towards the use of steroids.
Steroid use in Sports, both professional and amatuer, are becoming a larger and larger issue as the years have gone by. Now,the only issue isn’t only that more people are using steroids, but athletes aren’t educated about the side effects that come with taking steroids. “85%. That’s the percentage of teen athletes who do not receive any education about what the side effects of steroids happen to be” (healthresearchfunding.org). On top of that, 44% of teens have also said that obtaining steroids would be easy even without a doctor’s prescription (healthresearchfunding.org).
Professional sports are big business, and the use of steroids by professional sports stars compromises the integrity of the game; therefore, the American government has to intervene in order to maintain respectability in professional sports: With the Legislative branch, Congress is ready to propose stricter laws for the usage of steroids by professional athletics, the Executive branch has investigated allegations of steroid abuse by the Major League Baseball with the Mitchell Report, and the Judicial system has weighed in on the abuse of steroids with the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court ruling that records of players in Major League Baseball teams that tested positive for steroid use were not legally obtained. Much heated

(Judy Monroe, pg.15) Steroids have made a big rise in today’s society. It has went from mostly just famous athletes using to even now teenagers use it in high school.
