When it comes to sports, it is hard to know whether an athlete has natural talent or is cheating. Having a strong desire to win makes an athlete do anything to achieve it, even if it means cheating. There are many ways to cheat in sports, but the biggest way of cheating is by using steroids. Steroids are one of the world’s most controversial drugs. Baseball is no longer just America’s pastime, it has become more than that. It is a corporation, an entertainment industry. Athletes are under pressure to be their best. They are compelled to boost their performance. As the pressure rises, they rely on using steroids to win. Winning and being the best is what sports are about. If athletes did not use steroids, baseball would not be such a hit as it is. Baseball is popular because of the athletes that use steroids. There are other things that have the same effect of steroids so people should not make such a big deal over steroids. Sports have changed from what it used to be since the use of steroids. The use of steroids in sports is a problem; they have no place in sports. The use of steroids to improve an athlete’s performance is degrading to sports and athletes. Athletes should have equal opportunities to win in sports, but winning by using steroids becomes more important than winning fairly. There is always going to be someone younger, stronger, and faster to take an athlete’s spot by not cheating. An athlete has a drive to be the best in sports, but using steroids is not the best way to be the best. Sports are supposed to be fun and a way of proving an athlete’s talent; however, by using steroids, they are damaging their own well-being and the image of sports.
