August 5, 2024. It’s 7:50 pm on the Westside of Los Angeles, ten minutes before the Git N’ Go grocery store was closing. “I don’t get why we need to wait till almost closing time before we can rob them!” yelled Shane. “It’s simple; we have to wait till closing, because that is when the cash registers have the most money.” I explained. “Quit fighting you two, it’s time!” shouted Kevin. Shane, Kyle, and I walked into the store, while Kevin waits in the car. There is no one in sight except the lone cashier standing in the far corner of the room. Shane and Kyle get in positions so the cashier can’t run or hit an alarm. We all nod to each other stating we are ready for the next part of the plan. It’s 12:16 pm. We pull up in 3 black 15’ Dodge Chargers. Kyle steps out. He is the decoy in our operation. While he creates a diversion upstairs, the rest of the group is robbing the main safe in the basement. Luckily they were fixing a new subway tunnel right next to the Depository’s main wall. We drive down into the subway on the tracks. As we arrive, it’s barren. Shane walks up to the South wall and plants the explosives. “You guys ready?” I say through our headsets. “Just do it.” Shane laughs. With the click of a button, instantly a cloud of smoke and fire erupts from the wall. Moments after, a hole in the wall appears. Then all we can see is piles and piles of money. As almost every last dollar is retrieved, an alarm goes off, a loud stunning buzzer. We all look towards the stairs to see a guard talking on his radio, relaying that they were being robbed. Out of nowhere, Kevin body checks the guard against the wall! He’s out cold but cops are coming. “That’s all of it, let’s go!” I command. We speed back up to the top by the entrance of the bank to retrieve Kyle. As Kyle is diving back into my car, a shot is heard, and Kyle falls to his knees. Another shot, then another, Kyle is now laying on the ground… dead. “Kyle is gone, now let’s go!” yells Shane. We race off across town. Barricades are set up around town, but with reinforced steel we blow through them with …show more content…
Our longtime friend Joe Kassel sits in the front of his train with a cargo train car waiting for our three Chargers. We drive in and get out of our cars as the train starts to pull away. After about two hours we stop. Shane, Kevin, and I step out to see Joe smiling like there is no tomorrow. Then his smile fades. He stammers “Uh where...where is Kyle?” “He,” I start to say, then Joe cuts me off. “He didn’t make it did he?” “I’m sorry Joe.” Joe falls to his knees in tears. The next morning we return home to split our “investments” and with Kyle not in our cut we each end up with a little under 25 million. We all decide to dedicate the S.S. Kyle (boat) in Kyle’s honor and contribution to our organization. He always wanted his own boat, and now he’s got one. After that we retired from crime and lived out the rest of our days in
