The force of the waves woke the girls with a start. Maia, Beth and Cassidy were sharing a dorm on their ship, each girl being only 13 years old. Light pounding sounded at the door. When they opened the door, a stream of water flew into their room. They urgently darted out, only to see that down the hall, the other rooms were already flooding. The boat was clearly on an angle, half of the boat flooded and sunk under water. The half that included all the cabins, except for theirs which was the last room in the hall. By the second, water was building up-now to their knees.

“Something must’ve hit! We’re sinking. What do we do? Where is everyone?” Beth was full of questions, clearly shaking in terror.
“Beth! They’re all dead, okay? It’s just us. The cabins are far beneath the water by now. We are all that’s left on our ship!” Cassidy was scared too, though her fright was taken out in anger against the others. As Cassidy spoke, Maia ran to the edge of the boat, which was clasped onto a great, big rock.

The wind picked up in an instant. Their hair was flipping all around them. Then the rain, buckets of water were being poured on them nonstop. But the scariest of all- the large funnel of water beginning to form right in front of them.
“What do we do now!” Beth was shouting through the loud thunder and wind.
Each girl stared at the funnel, twirling in large circles. The cloud was black and the funnel was wide, headed right in their direction.
“Okay I'm pretty sure by now, we should be doing something.” Cassidy frantically grasped at the paddle and started slamming at the water quickly. The others immediately joined in. Just as they began to make distance between them and the hurricane, it started towards them, moving way faster than they were.
Cassidy tried making quick turns in hopes of avoiding the funnel.
