My mom doesn’t take her eyes off of the traffic on the road ahead of us as she asks, “Oh. So I’m assuming this Trevor kid. Is a boy?” “Yes mom, Trevor is a boy. Why does that matter?” I reply as I reach down to retrieve my phone my backpack’s outermost pocket.
