“I thought about mama … how she’d hung herself. And here I was about ready to shoot myself.” The play is “Crimes of the Heart” by Beth Henley.
Babe’s overall goal is to get out of her marriage with her husband Zackery. Then to ~Ahem~ stay with her childhood acquaintance Willie Jay and his dog Dog. Zackery seems to be her greatest enemy. She has feelings for him that made her want to shoot him. He then brings her to court, causing her to be even angrier at him. Though, she loves her sisters. They are the ones who have helped her pull through the stress and hard times.

She felt right shooting him because in that moment he was the “bad guy” and felt connected to her mother, who committed suicide. This shows she had difficulty dealing with her
