My knowledge about corrections and the entirety of the criminal justice system is limited to a few classes taken here at ACU, Movies/TV, and interactions with local law enforcement through ride-alongs and just spending time with officers and attorneys that I know. I think that the time spent with officers, especially during ride alongs offers the most realistic and up close view of the criminal justice system and how the corrections system can succeed (or fail) because of the proximity to offenders and real life interactions with them. I have also spend a small amount of time talking to an assistant US attorney about their job and role within the criminal justice system to gain a better picture of not only the police side of the job, but the prosecution and investigative side of the job. Movies and TV have also formed some amount of knowledge about the corrections system. Movies like Shawshank and the Rock and TV shows like Cops and Live PD have given me an insight into the criminal justice system. …show more content…

I do not believe that there is one specific goal that can be supported more than the others in terms of general importance. There may be one goal that is more important during one case, but less important than another in a different case.
