Detour of Critical Thinking
In the film, “The Cider House Rules” directed by Lasse Hallström points out critical issues such as maturity, abortions and more. First of all, it was impracticable to consider how someone can be a professional physician without any credentials which obtained for me to use critical thinking. I could not believe how much obligation a young man was able to achieve perhaps the reason is that the generation is entirely different today. Therefore, Homer Wells was the young man, isolated from society since childhood did not get the opportunity to go out and explore the world which was unexpected because every teen seeks on not depending on others authority. Candy cried, “Mr. Rose is the father! Is the baby’s father!” (Hallström 01:26:51-01:26:55). I could not accept that Mr. Rose the man of which I first thought was a good, hard-working and father can do much more. I did not have sufficient evidence to determine his character, but my first impressions. I concluded that Rose baby father was possibly a man that was left behind for the second trip around which caused her to be upset and sorrowful. Until I got to the ending point where there were confused reactions and misunderstanding that Mr. Rose was not a man. He was a criminal, who has been raping his own daughter Rose R. and I possessed with a hasty conclusion. Did not get the prospect to get sufficient proof if Rose R. was getting abused or a sign of her getting raped by anyone. Homer approaches stating, “I’m in the doctor business! I can help, that is all I’m saying. I can help!” (Hallström 01:34:18-01:34:26). I had strongly recognized that he would never do any abortions because of his age, pro-life decision and any credentials. Including, my views coexisted also pro-life if a woman was expecting the right thing to do is by having the baby. I considered if it was unsuitable to raise a child the benefit would be adoption. Until I came knowledgeable of Rose life condition getting raped by her own father just gave me the alternative to think otherwise. Her own father as the baby’s father was absolutely wrong in mind view. Migrant family, and having to deal with perhaps bias in their time I examined the right thing to do was for Homer to do the abortion. My opinion on abortion changed the fact that it touched a point that was intolerable for a woman to go through mentally and physically. Therefore, I had the same mindset as Homer by changing my opinion on abortion. I found myself contradicting my point on abortion by a critical life
