Some topics that will be discussed in this paper will be how an individual can apply the top three critical thinking skills at work, school, and throughout everyday life. Also, the other items that will be explained is the meaning of each of these critical thinking skills. The top three critical thinking skills are to analyze, synthesize, and to evaluate. These skills are an important facet of everyday life and to know how to properly use them will help in the long run. To apply analysis is to have an open mind and to think outside of the box. To analyze means to break material into constituent components, determining the way the components would connect with each other and also to a general objective or framework via differentiating, organizing, and also attributing (blooms taxony analyze1). Another way to describe what analysis means is to think could the student distinguish between the various components. Question cues that are distinguished by this type of critical thinking skill are examine, contrast, distinguish, and discriminate ( blooms taxonomy analyze2).The job that one can apply analysis too is the retail business. In this particular job, people arrange the clothing merchandise by small, medium, and large. Another example, in this field of work is to explain the merchandise to the customers and what is the best to buy. Some other place that one could apply this skill is at school. An example at school would be to compare and contrast a specific work of literature and examine what the book means. One other example at school is to have the students maybe develop a questionnaire about a particular subject and see if the other students can answer it. Synthesis entails setting up a product in a certain situation. This also means creating something from scratch (blooms taxonmy1). Also, synthesis states that the student is expected to place elements together to develop a whole, with a focus on forming a new meaning or structure. Synthesis is reached once the learner is able to generate a new example of the concept (Blooms taxonmy2). Several examples of synthesis can be used in school. One school assignment that applies to synthesis is to have the students create or write a story. This shows that the students can begin from scratch and to create something of their own. One other way this could be used at school is to have the students create a poem. This is very similar to the first example that was mentioned. How can one apply this particular skill at work? If a person works for a newspaper company, creating a newspaper is one example of how synthesis can be used for the job.
