In short, Life experience in college offer so many opportunities to students, I will always maintain that college is matter. I see college as a short bridge to go through before university, it is a beginning of a dream for some people who will later seek university to master their knowledge. And also, I think it is smarter to think to go college before
Should everyone go to college? College is a place for young adults to grow and be prepared for the future. The author of “Too Many People Are Going to College” Charles Murray, believes that college is not for everybody and is not an important step for you adults. I believe everyone should go, because going to college we can gain more knowledge, learn how to manage class and time, become mature as adults, and learn how living on your own is more difficult since we have to make our own decisions as young adults. The one point Charles Murray makes about not everyone is fit to going to college.
College is Worth the Cost College is the next higher level of education after high school. Many students go to college to get a bachelor’s degree for his or her major, and some students go farther than that to get a masters or a doctorates’ degree. The argument between people in today’s society is whether college is worth the cost. College is worth the cost students pay because people, who attend college get better jobs, make more money, and college improves his or her worth ethics and character.
College Isn’t for Everyone "By telling all young people that they should go to college no matter what, we are actually doing some of them a disservice" (Owen). This quote from “Brookings Paper: Is College a Good Investment” goes into detail about how college isn’t for everyone. By educators, parents, and authority figures telling graduating high school seniors that college is necessary, they are limiting the potential of that student’s true skills. College isn’t right for everyone and not everyone wants to go to college.
Well, college is one of the top places that comes to my mind at least. College is where many can enhance various intellectual capabilities and help many a person achieve a higher standard of cognitive thinking, and I sincerely hope that I am one of them. If one was to look into my cerebral cortex’s process of critical thinking, he or she might find a few areas lacking that I direly need and want to improve. The first place the person might say I need improvement on is the ability to look at a viewpoint that is not necessarily my own to try to understand it from all directions. Most times, when someone vehemently disagrees with my opinion, I easily write the person off and just take my view as the better interpretation, but yet the saying, two heads are better than one, comes into play.
Though there are many individuals who believe that college is not for everyone, attending college and getting a higher education can open the gates to many tremendous life changing opportunities such as becoming healthier, begin able to secure jobs, and earning more financially.
If a person’s parent or guardian drilled the idea of college into your head, or if they told you ‘do what you want’ or ‘I don 't care’, or ‘You’re not going’. While college is great, there are other means of education. The value of college is a low because there are people who do not qualify for a college education, and also because there are other ways of post-secondary education other than college. College is not valuable because many people will not make it into a 2 or 4-year college, much less graduate from one. To support this, in the article Why College Isn 't For Everyone, it says, “As a general rule, I would use graduates in the top quarter of their class at a high-quality high school should go on to a four-year degree program, while those in the bottom quarter of their classes at a high school with a mediocre educational reputation should not.”
Also, there are some students stuck it out in the college for one or two years, and they change their majors, start over, drop classes, and finally drop out without any degree. Schlack think going to college is not always the best option because those students who fail in college because they are not prepared for college, and people told them the only option for them is college. I think student will not succeed in college if they are not prepared. Students who think he or she won’t success in college they should find a job after high school or go to community college. Stephanie Owen and Isabel Sawhill in their article “should everyone go to college,” they believed that everyone should have the chance to go to the college, and it is very important in our life.
For many people, college is an important key for their future. Some people go to college for the job opportunities and the new windows it can open. Others go just for the education and experience. A good education is beneficial from many different viewpoints; in truth, it is a possibility that one's adult life could be much harder than people care to think. One can have better wealth, is less likely to be unemployed, and a much higher chance of being closer to your family.
Why People Should Not Go to College People should not go to college because is difficult to find out what career choice as a result of the inexperience and little information, the potential loans are overwhelming, and the huge necessity to start working immediately after school. In fact, many high school students go to college because it is expected of them, but that is not a good reason to go. If the students are facing pressure from their parents, friends, or teachers to attend college, but they do not feel ready. A person who wants to attend college should not take on such a large financial and time commitment just to please other people. College is expensive, and it does not make sense to spend money on a college degree if they are unsure of their path.
Going to college may not be the best choice for everyone, but it can provide many great opportunities for the future. Young adults who attend college could potentially earn more money, have better job opportunities and learn some responsibility while living on campus. Life is not all about having or making a lot of money, but it can make life better. Money is used in our everyday lives and is needed to support us. When students decide on their major, the choice may come from how much money is made in that job industry.
Integrating critical thinking into the education system will encourage students to think more about how they find an answer. Knowing the process allows students to have less of a struggle on questions where they do not have an answer memorized.
Throughout the last twelve weeks, I have spent my times working on the report for the subject “Critical Thinking” with Khánh Linh and Nhật Linh. During the first six weeks of the project, we have teamed up together to gather as much information as possible on the fields that interest us the most and then proceeded to narrow down to the topic that all three members feel the most suitable to work on. After careful considerations, we’ve chosen the topic relating to the protection of LGBT adolescents in Vietnam for our report. At week six, the team chose me as the team leader because our team members believed that I’m capable of pushing all the members to fulfil their responsibilities and organizing our working schedule.
