The book, “Into the Killing Seas,” by Michael Spradlin, is about how World War Two breaks out and two boys named Patrick and Teddy must separate from their parents for safety. They miss their parents so much that they decide to secretly hide in a crate in a ship that takes them back. A companion who helps them, named Benny, privately gives them some supplies and water. Suddenly, the ship, or Indianapolis, is torpedoed by a Japanese submarine and the ship begins to sink. The three make it out alive, but help is far and they are floating on a piece of a crate.
In the books Hatchet, Guts, and Island of the Blue Dolphins the characters all go through horrifying experiences. In Hatchet, a boy named Brian is forced to fly a plane after the pilot dies of a heart attack. In Island of the Blue Dolphins, a girl named Karana and her brother were left behind by their clan. In Guts, a man named Gary Paulsen answers emergency ambulance calls and witnesses many deaths from people. To begin with in Hatchet, Brian Robeson pilot dies of a heart attack when on his way to his father’s home in Canada.
Director, writer, and producer, Gabriella Cowperthwaite, in her documentary, Blackfish, describes the shameless hunting and treatment of killer whales. Cowperthwaite’s purpose is to persuade us into opening our eyes to the reality of what we are doing to killer whales by confining them in captivity. She invents an emotionally wrenching tone in order to transmit to the adult viewers that living in captivity may not be acceptable life for the whales. The film effectively showed that the whales should not be kept in captivity by giving the audience examples of their signs of aggression and displays of emotion. Cowperthwaite begins her documentary by showing how killer whales can become barbaric when held captive.
Into The Wild English Final “Into The Wild” is a partial biography written by Jon Krakauer describing how the body of Chris McCandless was found in the wilderness of Alaska. Mr. McCandless was a gifted athlete and scholar, who from an early age shows deep intensity, passion, and a strict moral compass. He discovered that his father had a second family while McCandless was growing up but wasn't told until he graduated high school. He wanted to leave society because to pursue a life of adventure and not apathy/routine while also trying to get away from his sleepwalker, money-driven/materialistic parents. He donated his $25,000 to charity, burned his wallet, drove his car to the middle of nowhere, and disappear in April of 1992.

The book “In the lake of the woods”, written by Tim O’Brien, is about a Vietnam veteran and politicians story. The main character, John Wade, is a Vietnam veteran who was involved with a brutal massacre. John was also a politician, and in fear that the massacre he was involved with would affect his political career, John does everything he can to cover up this incident. During this time John's wife mysteriously disappears. John has an ambition throughout the story to cover up what happened to profit his own career.
A Global Citizen is someone who is informed, purposeful, active, and law-abiding in their community. In “The Cove” Ric O’Barry displays how he is a good global citizen striving to raise awareness for thousands of dolphins being slaughtered across the world. When Ric O’Barry first discovered that twenty-three thousand dolphins get murdered every year in Japan he was horrified. He became an animal activist who does anything to save and raise awareness for dolphins. Although Ric breaks the law he is still an informed, purposeful, and active global citizen.
Pressure is experienced by many kids, and their parents are a primary source of it. The narrator in The Boat by Alistair MacLeod faces a tremendous amount of pressure from his parents. My parents also put a lot of pressure on me because they want me to be successful in their own way, and I do not find it helpful. To start, this pressure could lead to stress, which could then lead to long term problems such as anxiety and depression. Ever since I was young, my parents have wanted me to pursue a career in medicine.
In 2013, the documentary called Blackfish was released, a story about a killer whale that over the years at SeaWorld killed several people. It highlighted some of the major problems with animals in captivity. SeaWorld, known for having several different animal attractions; Dolphin Cove, Dolphin Nursery, Orca Underwater Viewing, Shark Encounter, Wild Arctic (Habitat) and many more. The organization first started with the intention of learning more about animals in order to educate the public about different behaviors of each animal. Trainers at Seaworld are offered the opportunity to get hands-on training with animals and are eventually are allowed to entertain the public with the skills they have acquired.
In conclusion Blackfish is gives audiences a shocking, aggressive and deeply compelling look into cruel practices of marine parks for decades that will change the way you look at captive/trained killer whales and other animals. In watching this documentary has significantly opened my eyes regarding the brutal treatment and methods of capturing wild animals giving me a greater sympathy for orcas in parks such as SeaWorld. This startling documentary will surprise audiences as Cowperthwaite is unrelenting in showing the fatal consequences of keeping killer whales in captivity while also critiquing of the cruel and immoral practises of
The target audience of this documentary is the general public that includes a big emphasis on the customers of SeaWorld. The filmmakers are trying to inform the public of the inhumane treatment and the conditions that the orcas face while at amusements parks such as SeaWorld. As described in the film, orcas are seen as intellectual animals that are aware of their surroundings. Because of their intellect, orcas don’t belong in a place SeaWorld and should be released.

Blackfish also shows how little people really know about the beautiful and highly intelligent orca whale itself. Her film was seen by many, and touched the hearts of a lot people, taking the debate of the topic to a higher level. The movie hits on a lot of main issues about captivity, told by reliable people, along with proven statistics to go along with them.

Firstly, Cowperthwaite uses effective language techniques to position the audience to view the trainers as undertrained and unprofessional.
Whales in captivity have become too much for humans to handle. Many of the pools that they are kept in are far to small to accommodate their need for exercise. The Natural Minimum Drinking Age Act of 1984 has effectively established the drinking age to be 21 in order to drink alcohol in all fifty states. According to the National Minimum Drinking Age Act this law has saved 17,000 on the highways since 1988, and I believe this law should remain. 18-year-olds should not be allowed to drink. At the age of 18 one should not be allowed to drink alcohol because of the maturity level, increasing rates of car accidents and alcohol poisoning. Of course, many will disagree on the grounds of twenty-one being the age to purchase alcohol.
