In the film ‘Children of Men” directed by Alfonso Cuaron, displays and reinforces important ideas throughout the film but are mainly looked upon in the ending scene of the movie. Such as Kee’s baby is symbolic of hope to stop the uprising, People sacrificing their life for humanities existence and the setting and happenings around them. The use of language features such as lighting, dialogue, camera shots and symbolism were used to emphasise and express these ideas.

It’s the year 2027 and the world's youngest citizen has just died at 18, and the likelihood of extinction in the human race is nearing. This dystopian film is set in London, a city now with horror and disparity. This was emphasised through the language technique of lighting in one of the ending scenes. Were Kee and her baby were in a boat going to the human project, through an underground tunnel and a light was shining through a hole onto them. This language feature of lighting and symbolism was used to show that Kee’s baby (Dylan), displays a connection between Kee and virgin Marie a quite religious scene and is the only chance to retain human fertility. This scene was there to reinforce the main idea in the film of infertility and that Kee’s baby was the hope that the world never knew could still happen. This idea highlighted throughout the film of Kee’s baby being a symbol of hope and disparity, but this final scene reiterates
