Although on the surface you wouldn’t think that Manitoba Canada and West Virginia are that much different, but in reality there are many distinct differences between the two. I was raised in Logan, West Virginia. Logan was the storybook version of a small country town, with the Friday night football and the friendly hometown feel. Logan was the small town that had many conveniences such as many fast food and dine in restaurants, shopping centers, movie theaters and many things to do. In 2012 my family and I moved to Arborg, Manitoba and it was one of the biggest culture shocks I have ever been through. In most areas they say that Arborg Collegiate was small but the it alone had 160 students which is more than my entire school in West Virginia. Coming from a very small private school I was used to one on one help and small class room sizes, usually never over seven students per class. Arborgs class size ranged from 20-30 students per class, so that was a big change for me. Canada had coins called a looney and a toonie. The looonie was equivalent to our dollar and was a silver coin, the toonie was equivalent to two dollars and was a silver coin with gold in the center. When I lived in Arborg they were trying to circulate pennies out of the money system completely so you were always evenly charged that was pennies were never used. Things were priced differently in Canada than they are in the United States, for instance you are not taxed on dairy products, but milk alone cost almost six dollars a
