Canada and Germany for instance may have the same governing system which is a parliamentary democracy, but the way each country goes through processing a law is completely different. That is basically is a system that holds the law to a supreme authority which is the Queen or Prime Minister. Fun fact, in Germany everything is closed on Sunday or not open very long, they take that day to relax and unwind or spend time with family. In 1867, Canada pass the British North American act which established 2 orders of government. The two governments are a federal based in Ottawa and provincial which is based in Ontario (History of Government ). There is a Upper chamber which is the Senate and a Lower chamber which is the House of Commerce. With this type of government in place they were now able to make decisions based on what topics fell under which government. For example, the federal government has control over immigration, criminal justice, defense, trade and commerce and with provincial they deal more with education, health and social services, etc. (History of Government ). They have a government split into two chambers and the structure of this political system was to achieve specific goals. Some of the goals was to develop a stable and democratic political system, maintain some history in the political intuitions, re-create a federal structure of government and establish institutional limits on extremist and antisystem forces (Powell). With this basic law in place it was supposed to be a way to disturb power between the 16 states (Powell). The government is made up of three different sections, the legislature (bundestag), executive, and judiciary (Powell). It is divided into 13 states and has 80 million people in it. Every few years they go through an election or vote in a parliamentary election. There are three major parts in the German political system. They vote for representatives from their districts and vote for political party. With the vote, it produces 598 seats in the legislative body known as the bundestag. With the bundestag, there main purpose is to approve all federal laws and amend the governments legislative program (Powell). The executive branch is made up of the chancellor, president and the cabinet. With the chancellor, they are elected by the bundestag and is the head of gov. The chancellor controls everything that happens in the government and set an agenda of what needs to be accomplished. The president is elected by the federal state, and has control over whether a bill
