Today healthcare service is far more complex and advanced and it is significantly different from ‘what it used to be’. There are many factors that are driving the changes such as advancement of technology as well as patients factors. However, new technologies will not exclude traditional care but it helps to create options to teach and guide patients care. Health is an ‘ever-changing’ and growing comprehensive element of a human’s experience. Naturally, every individuals, strives for optimal health and it is influenced by individuals, groups, community as well as environment. It also includes thoughts, communication styles, views on roles and responsibilities, ways of interacting and practices. Culture is shaped by multiple influences factors such as race, ethnicity, nationality, language, gender, status, mental and physical abilities, occupations and many more (Thomas, 2002). The increasing diversity of the nations gives an opportunity as well as challenges for the healthcare providers, system and policy makers to generate and deliver culturally competent services. The United State Census had confirmed that the nation’s population had become more diverse that ever before and the trend is accepted to continue over the next century (WHO, 2012). Healthcare system and providers need to reflect and respond to various diverse patients’ perspectives, values, beliefs and behaviours on their health and well being as globally the nations are becoming more ethnic and racial. Transcultural nursing is defined as a practice that focused on comparative holistic culture care, health and the patterns of illness by each individual people by respecting their differences and similarities in their cultural values and beliefs with the goal to deliver culturally congruent competent and compassionate care. transcultural nursing is characterized by interventions that are sensitive to individual and families needs who represent diverse cultural population
