I am going to tell you about a couple short stories that shows the cultural differences and how it can impact a person's life. In the short story "Where Worlds Collide" by Pico Iyer, it's about an unspecified group of people. In the story it said that they stepped off the plane "Dazed, disoriented, heads still partly in the clouds, bodies still several time zones-or-centuries-away, and step into the promised land. In the short story, “Mericans”, written by Sandra Cisneros, there are many underlying conflicts that surface throughout the story. The conflicts, in short, evolve around two very distinguished cultures. Furthermore, the clashing views regarding the two cultures cause a great amount of problems for many individuals in a society. The cultural differences can tremendously affect a society, as the clashing views can lead to a wide array of issues such as ethnocentrism, gender discrimination, stereotypes, as well as the health of many personal relationships. Cisneros begins to develop this conflict when the story’s narrator, Michele, describes the altar to La Divina Providencia in which the “awful grandmother” worships.

No one is the same and everyone has a completely different culture, even if you come from a strongly followed culture family. Not everyone has experienced the same things as other people have, so judging people on the first impression isn't really a good thing to do. For example, everyone thinks that all Muslims are terrorists but in reality, they really aren't. One's culture informs the way one views others and the world by an enormous amount because everyone has different culture opinions and experiences different situations.
Cultural differences is something important to the author herself that somehow helps her to become what she is really today. In the beginning of the novel, there are many traumas deal with cultural differences that the author undertaken. One of the traumas she experienced is when she 's in the United States living with Melvin and his mother, she felt like "she doesn 't want to wear American dress" (Le 16,17). This is understandable when a six-year-old girl wanted to keep her Vietnamese traditional culture. And because she is young,
Does a one's culture affect the way others view the world? Every culture has different beliefs, race, religion, traditions, music, clothes, background, history and more. Not one culture is the same. Everyone has their own perspective about culture but a person's culture strongly informs the way he or she views others and the world. I will show this through Pico Iyers essay “Where Worlds Collide” and Robert Lakes essay “An Indian Father's Plea.”
Growing up in an immigrant family led me to become heavily influenced by culture and tradition. My family immigrated from Afghanistan about 25 years ago and they brought their culture with them. Now since they didn’t quite know how to ‘Americanize’ or adapt to the american culture, they stuck to their own. This was in part because of the idea that moving to a new country possibly increased the chance of losing culture and traditions and in part because it was all they knew. Culture refers to all of the beliefs, customs, ideas, behaviors, and traditions of a particular society that are passed through generations and it is passed on by language, behavior, and it defines which traits and behaviors are considered important, desirable, or undesirable.

The plot of a piece of literature contains every event and action that takes place within that piece. The Joy Luck Club contains many different stories, but their plots all entail the issue of cultural identity. For example, June notices the distress within the mothers of the novel once she tells them that because her mother had passed away, she has nothing to pass on to her children. June thinks, “What will I say?… They see their own daughters, just as ignorant… who grow impatient when their mothers talk in Chinese… who will bear grandchildren born without any connecting hope passed from generation to generation” (Tan 31).
Culture impacted my personality and how I act and feel. To me, culture is a very important part of every person’s life. Culture can influence my different types of values. Luckily, I got one Westerner called Katie and one Asian called Ju Hoon, which has helped me prove my point in social interactions for cultural psychology. Hot cultured people are collectivistic and are more relationship oriented than cold cultured people. Countries such as Asia, Africa, and The Middle East are mostly a hot cultured society.1 On the contrary, cold cultured people are people who are individualistic and are more task-oriented.2 Some of the countries include Northern US states, Europe, and Australia. There were some cultural differences between Katie and Ju Hoon. Ju Hoon was more “hot” cultured, while Katie was more “cold “cultured.
Cultural influence was examined by comparing two individuals that come from distinct cultural groups. An interview was conducted in order to be able to learn the different ways that culture has played an important role in the way that a person communicates and forms relationships. The interview conducted was focused on the interviewee, named Hanyu Wang, who comes from Beijing China. Hanyu was asked a series of questions which revolved around the idea of culture and how it has impacted him as a person. His responses were compared to mine in order to be able to come up with the conclusion that different cultural groups have different traditions, customs, and beliefs that are incorporated within themselves which can be seen in their persona by the way they communicate and think.

Based upon my culture and how I was raised some values and principles that are most influential into how I act and live my life are family, kindness, hard work, respect, and education. The most important value of all of these is family. Family is the core of who I am and it means more to me than anything else.
