The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time Live Theatre Review The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is a play set in Swindon, England in 1998 through the eyes of a boy named Christopher John Francis Boone. It all begins when he discovers the body of his neighbour’s dead dog, Wellington, and makes it his mission to find out the murderer. He’s met with a lot of obstacles he needs to overcome to complete his mission and his autism helps him solve some of the mysteries uncovered in the play but at times it can be a burden for him. This is all recorded in his book for his school assignment, and soon the mystery of the dog becomes a lot bigger than he’d realised. She’s portrayed as airy, nostalgic and beautiful but in reality (at least from how I saw it) she abandoned Christopher when it got to be too much. Christopher uses the train set to escape from his problems but Siobhan’s presence makes him think about what’s happening around him. Unlike his father’s presence, which throughout the play causes him to clam up and hide from everything. Things like costume, facial expressions, and tone of voice contribute to how trusting the audience is of them. Siobhan from the beginning is seen as someone above everything happening to Christopher; an outsider to it all yet someone close to him. It’s easy to assume she’s a mentor. She’s always trying to help Christopher understand how he’s feeling and how to understand what’s happening around him without influencing her own opinion on
