This report forms a part of the CIBC 4001 Construction Industry Environment course requirements.

In the first part of this report, I will take a look into different roles of a range of people taking a part in a construction process, from the very beginning of it till the very end. I will investigate the responsibilities the following roles carry out as well as their interaction between one another. The second part of the report is about Health and Safety at the given construction site. Five Health and Safety rules will be recommended and discussed in regard to the way these rules would help to keep everyone at the construction site safe and healthy. However, as the Architect has already been engaged, they can handle the question as being the Client’s representative.

No real work can start before the Building consent has been issued. If the Client has enough knowledge about the application process and the Building Code, they can apply for the Building consent by themselves. Otherwise, that can be done by the Architect.

The Principal Project Manager, being hired by the Client as their representative, could apply for the Building consent as well, however in regard to this particular scenario, where the Project Manager works for the Construction company and the Client is the developer, I can assume the Client has enough experience and knowledge to go through the Building consent application process by themselves or with the help of the Architect only.

Even though the Project Manager works for the Construction company, they work closely with the Client to keep the latter updated on how the project is going along.

To build a complex that big as the one in the scenario given, takes time. It could be a year or even more. If during this timeframe the Client’s budget has been changed, they have to let know about the changes to all key people involved in the project, such as the Architect, the Project manager, and the Quantity
