In December of 1777, American General George Washington and his men took shelter at Valley Forge for the winter. It was 18 miles northwest of the British camp in Philadelphia, and Washington thought it was a perfect spot. But that was not the case for the soldiers. The soldiers had it rough, and many did not want to enlist for the army after. Today, many people wonder if they would stay with George Washington, or not enlist and go home back to their families.
Death and Empty Seats The year is February 1778, 18 miles away from Pennsylvania in Valley forge. We are dieing slowly,one by one, most of us are either sick or dead. This was intended to be the colonial army’s winter camp but instead it has turned into a graveyard. I am leaving because of the death count and illnesses,the diary of Dr.Albigence Waldo,and finally the engraving of the committee of congress. I was told that valley forge was going to be a breeze and the colonial army would be back on it’s feet in the spring,but I was wrong.
The Reconstruction of many Southern states from the year 1865 to 1877 is a failure, although reconstruction plans are set up, African Americans still face the same poor treatment they are given prior to the Civil War. The president at the time, Abraham Lincoln, puts in place a reconstruction plan to help rebuild the South in a way it has never been before, without slaves. Lincoln also puts the thirteenth amendment in place, which abolishes slavery. However, after Lincoln’s death, his Vice President, Andrew Johnson takes over and overrules his reconstruction plan, and puts in place his own, which favors the former Confederate states. Johnson fights with congress over the passing of the fourteenth amendemnet, but Congress overrules his vetoes,
Valley Forge was a Patriot camp during the American Revolution. It was used by General George Washington and soldiers. The campsite was a harsh place and the winter made nearly impossible to live. For, us , soldiers it was a living hell. The Patriots reached Valley Forge in December 1777 ( Doc A ).

Valley Forge was a camp that the Continental Army stayed at during the winter for about 6 to 7 months. They stayed there with little food and supplies, while disease was spreading. I would stay at Valley forge even through the hardships. These are the times that tests men souls.
Since the British settled in Philadelphia, colonists settled 15 miles northwest of it in a place called Valley Forge. It was cold and riddled in disease, but Washington was able to train troops and men were still patriotic. If I was at Valley Forge, I would be one of the people to stay there. One reason I would stay is because there wasn’t that many deaths in the first place (Doc A). The high amount of people there contributed to not a lot of deaths.

Another result of the Triangle Factory fire that resulted in change in the American workplace was the attempts of labor unions and strikes. Prior to the fire, in 1909, one of the more notable strikes dubbed the "Uprising of 20,000" was organized primarily by female immigrant garment workers because of the awful conditions, long hours, and low wages they were made to work in due to the lack of options available to them (Pool, 2012). The primary challenge was to get attention paid to the mistreatment of immigrant workers. Was the Revolution Really Revolutionary? The Revolutionary War was truly, not revolutionary because the women did not get the rights they deserved until over 100 years later, slavery was not abolished and African Americans did not get rights until 1865 and 1965 respectively, and people who were poor had no more legislative representation after the “Revolution” that they did prior to this war. As seen in Document 7, during the Revolutionary War, Abigail Adams wrote a letter to her husband, John Adams, who had much political power and money asking him to “Remember the ladies” and be “more generous and favorable” to them. She also noted that the women “have no voice or representation” in the colonies and that it needs to change. This was in 1776.
Corporate greedy and corrupt politicians were specific problems and injustices that were present in American life during the late 1800s and early 1900s however these were addressed during the progressive era with laws and regulations. Throughout the gilded era corrupt politicians and corporate greedy allowed the upper class and businessmen to take advantage of the working class. This means that a majority of the population were hurt during the gilded age whereas a small percentage benefitted. As seen in document 1, living conditions were crowded, dirty, and unsafe.
According to the Fourth Amendment, people have the right to be secure in their private property, and may only be searched with probable cause. However, in a recent case, this right was violated by the government. An Oregon citizen, with the initials of DLK, was suspected of growing marijuana in his home. The federal government used a thermal imager to scan his home, and were later given a warrant to physically search his home. However, many remain divided over whether or not this scan was constitutional, as there was no warrant at the time of the scan.
Beginning with President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s inauguration in 1933, the New Deal was passed in the context of reformism and rationalism as the United States proceeded through the Great Depression. The American people looked to the President to instill reform policies to help direct the country out of an economic depression, and thus often sought to abandon the society that existed before the Great Depression. Roosevelt instituted New Deal policies to attempt to combat this period of economic decline, many of which were successful and appealed to the American people’s desires. The Underworld is a place where all dead people that is talked about by many different Greek and Roman poets. Each poet puts a different little spin on exactly where it is and what it is. For example, in the Odyssey it is said to be located in the depths beneath the earth and over the edge of the earth across Ocean. Another poet wrote that there are two parts of the Underworld, Tartarus and Erebus. Tartarus being where people who have long died reside and Erebus the part where the newly dead ones pass briefly in.
