Both versions of the cycle of judgement described in The Drama of Scripture and by Dr. Jones are both very important cycles that can help us understand and see Gods mercy. The cycles both have the same basic ideas and steps. There are many examples of this in the bible where we can see where this cycle is occurring.
In The Drama of Scripture, the cycle of judgement is described as a seven-step process. It begins with committing a sin or someone turning their back on God. God then gets angered by this sin and punishes the people for it. Following God's anger and punishment, the people then cry back out to God and repent so that he will help them from the punishment he has set upon them. Although his people sin and stray away from him, he still allows them to come back into his grace. By doing this, he gives them another chance to have eternal life through him and live a life following God's rules. This shows how truly merciful god is even when people turn his their backs on him.

The largest difference between Saul and David was the way that they owned up to their sins. When Saul is confronted with his sins, he does not own up to his mistakes. Instead of owning up to his mistakes and asking for forgiveness, he blames his actions on other things and believes his sins were not that big of a deal. If he would have owned up to his sins and repented, God would have allowed him back in his life and forgave him for the sins he committed.
David on the other hand had a very different reaction when he was confronted with the horrific sins he committed. Instead of denying his sins, he owns up to them and immediately repents to the lord and ask for forgiveness. David even writes a song found in Psalm 51. David is truly sorry for his actions and lays himself before God. By doing this, God forgives him for his
