Dachau is a concentration camp located in Southern Germany, that was used to exterminate Jews during World War II. It was used as a prison, to keep prisoners of war, Jews, gypsies, and other people who were spit upon in the German society. Dachau was the first concentration camp established and it was the base model of all the other concentration camp. It was originally a factory, but then the prisoners had to tear it down into a camp. It was established in 1933. At first it was located in Bavaria, but then moved into Munich and expanded into a much bigger camp. The camp lasted around twelve years and executed many prisoners and many died in the harsh working conditions. Dachau was mostly a prototype or test for the other concentration camps, to see if the layout is efficient enough. The camp was designed by Theodor Eicke and were later used in other camps, like Auschwitz. He became the inspector of leader of the camp because he was the designer and was credited for his basic and simple design of the camp. The camp was very simple, including a living quarters or cell blocks for the prisoners and a part for the soldiers and guards.
