In the story of Daedalus and Icarus there is a very valuable and important lesson that is brought to attention. The story is about a father and a son that were kept captive in an island named Crete. The father had invented wings of wax and designed them for him and his son to escape from the island. Daedalus warned Icarus about not getting too close to the water because it would dampen his wings and not too close to the sun because they would melt away. The worried father hugged and kissed Icarus with tears in his eyes fearing for what might happen to them. Icarus thought about what Daedalus said but then excitement took over and soared up high in the sky fell to the dark sea and died. In the story Daedalus and Icarus, Icarus didn’t listen to the advice that his father gave him about not getting too close to either the sea or the sun which would both result in terrible consequences. Well Icarus got overly excited and flew up close to the sun and fell into the sea and died. Is Icarus had listened to his father his life wouldn’t have ended in such a tragedy. In real life, there are many teenagers that don’t listen to their parents and the end result of those actions could be awful to the parents and the teenagers themselves. My parents always have told me to be careful around strangers or in public places and to be aware of my surroundings. In an incident when me and my cousin were walking around my neighborhood a car stopped beside us and the window was rolled down to reveal a middle-aged man. He asked if we needed a ride, I said no but then I saw my cousin reach over and take hold of the car door handle. I then pulled her back remembering what my dad always told me about keeping my guard up. We then hurried down the sidewalk and as we turned the curb we ran to my house which was only a couple houses
