Maya Angelou once said, “Prejudice is a burden that confuses the past, threatens the future and renders the present inaccessible.” The book “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee is set in the town of Maycomb, Alabama in the 1930s. Despite first appearances, the community of the town festers with prejudice towards anyone who doesn’t fit the mold of an average citizen. This animosity towards so many people can only result in lasting damage. The characters of Mr. Dolphus Raymond, Arthur Radley, and Tom Robinson have been some of the people most strongly affected by the sheer amount of prejudice in Maycomb, Alabama due to being faced with hatred and rejection as a result of their differences.
To Kill a Mockingbird is a novel written by Harper Lee and it brings attention to societal tensions caused by continuous prejudice against isolated minorities. Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird has a recurring theme of prejudice. Throughout the novel the narrator Scout Finch, Arthur “Boo” Radley and colored people are faced with prejudice. Prejudice is an assumption about someone based solely on what they believe is true or on what they were told or taught. Scout experiences prejudice because of her age, Boo because he is seldom seen and colored people because of the color of their skin.
In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, prejudice is portrayed in many ways. Three characters that experience prejudice is Boo Radley, Atticus Finch, and Tom Robinson. Boo Radley is not treated like he fits into the town, Atticus Finch is being judged because he is presenting a black person in court, and Tom Robinson experiences prejudice because he is black. The people in Maycomb think Boo Radley is different, so they treat him like he does not belong in the town. The citizens in Maycomb think that Boo’s actions are not normal.
Prejudice is preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience. So how would that be represented in the book to kill a mockingbird? Well the main character Scout learns about different types of prejudice that are illustrated by the actions of the towns people towards Boo Radley, the Ewells and Tom Robinson. Scout learns that they way Dyl, Jem, and herself look at and judge Boo Radley is very prejudice because they do not know how Boo Radley really is.

Scout and Jem initially view Boo Radley as a scary neighbour due to his reclusiveness and mysteriousness. However, Boo ends up saving the children’s lives at the end of the book and the bias that they have against him is lifted.
Prejudice is perceived opinion that isn’t based a upon actual fact. In the book To Kill a Mockingbird, there are a lot of examples of prejudice towards black people because it was around that time that African Americans were finally receiving the same rights legally as that of a white man, but the white man thought that this was preposterous. However, throughout the story we see plenty of prejudices against other types of people. For instance, there are prejudices against, Boo Radley, women, and finally white people that believe the blacks are equal to the whites. These are the three types of prejudices that I will be discussing throughout my essay.

Social prejudice is shown throughout Harper Lee’s award winning book, To Kill a Mockingbird. Harper Lee powerfully analyses the theme social prejudice, and its effect on people. Such as how the Social prejudice is discrimination based on your status in society. An example of social prejudice would be the Radley family, which consists of Boo Radley, Nathan Radley and Arthur Radley. As they haven’t been out of their house in years people are lead to believe the rumours.
In the play The Miracle Worker prejudice is a popular theme. William Gipson presents this theme mostly in the beginning of the play. Prejudice is judging someone before getting to know them. One example of prejudice in The Miracle Worker would be when Annie first arrived at the Kellers’ home. They saw her and thought she wouldn’t be a good teacher just because of the way she looked.

In this novel there is a lots of prejuice in socety because it shown by a child’s point of veiw because jem sister Scout is tell the story. Prejudice is an idea or opinion thats is not based on facts or actual logic.i have three reason why this novel is shows prejudice by a child's point of view, first children always say what the think,second children aren't mature ,lastly . The children characters in this novel are prejudiced because they say their opinion that is not based on true facts.
It can be seen in class, gender, and racial prejudices, as well as characters’ reactions to these biases. The setting of To Kill a Mockingbird is one that has many of these prejudices ingrained in the roots of its society. As a result, it is difficult to overcome these prejudices without tolerance of others. By being tolerant towards others, characters can put themselves in another’s “shoes,” and see life from their perspective to better understand and sympathize with them. Currently, the need for tolerance is still an important issue.
Bias and prejudice influence the way people judge, think, and form opinions about other people or situations. Although they still exist today, bias and prejudice were especially present during the 1930’s in small, rural towns across the country. There were many examples of bias and prejudice in the book To Kill A Mockingbird. Harper Lee conveys that bias and prejudice are negative and effected Tom Robinson and the Cunninghams in an unfavorable way. In the story, Tom Robinson was accused of rape.
Not only is abortion not safe, but it is not holy either. In this, God is saying that he knew Jeremiah before he was born (Melton, James 1).
