The brain isn’t fully developed and is easily damageable. The brain is used for ability and functions, and is hard to live without one (Rapp 1). Parents will go the cheap route when buying pads and helmets. Also, parents will not get their children checked up daily and will let their kids attend practice without pads (Eichelberger 2). These facts prove that parents don’t know what they are doing and take the easy way out of things when it comes to playing sports. Practices are more of a cause when it comes to concussions than an actual game. During practices, unnecessary hitting, dangerous non sport related drills, and hitting without pads occur. Also during practices, players tend to get in fights and are aggressive with each other and can cause serious injuries. “62 Percent of sports related injuries occur during practices because parents don’t take the proper safety precautions such as not letting them wear pads, non-game related drills, and unnecessary hitting” (3) This quote says that more than half of the injuries that occur in football are obtained during practice. There are other sports such as baseball and basketball that creates the same fun environment as football but are safer to play and aren’t as risky on the brain or physical injuries. Football can cause damage to the brain. The organ is used in daily activities and is essential to life and it is hard to life without a brain. If parents were intelligent and cared about their children they wouldn’t let their kids play football. The more blows a player obtains the more and more problems they face. Letting kids play football is not a shrewd thing to do and parents should respect that by not letting their children play football.
