In the video, Darwin along with his crew explored the Galapagos islands and found fossils of different animals that strangely resemble the animals alive in the mainland. During Darwin’s time, he found fossils of the Glyptodon and figured that it had similar characteristics with a common animal that can be seen in the mainland, both in the past and now, the armadillo. Darwin also found fossils of a animal that resembles the present llama, however, the fossil that was found was larger in size, it was also known as the Macrauchenia. This shows how animals in the present resemble species in the past, leading us to the theory of evolution and why these species changed. According to Cline Austin, the fossil record shows present scientists and researchers the evolutionary change that has occurred for over more than 4 billion years, in which they show how much or even how little each species had adapted and changed over time.
Natural selection is a force of nature that is a catalyst to forever changing variations in species of plants and animals. Pertaining to the article, "Darwin and Natural Selection" by Dr. Dennis O'Neil, the Galapagos Islands helped Darwin to understand the idea of evolution. Darwin identified thirteen different species of finches that differ from beak size and shape. The term used for this variation today is called adaptive radiation; where different populations of the same species develop different characteristics due to contrasting environments. Moreover, Darwin realized the beak varieties were apparent to the differing diets of each population of finches.
Evolution is an idea that is not yet completely comprehended. Charles Darwin, Father of Evolution, explained that two different species could share a common ancestor in his On the Origin of Species article; this theory was based on the idea of natural selection, which proposed the idea and understanding of the process of evolution to scientists. The idea of natural selection gave rise to adaptions from traits through other processes known as adaptationism. Adaptationists, including Stephen J. Gould and Richard Lewontin, believe most traits are optimal adaptations, and adaptationaism emphasize natural selection as having such power as to cause an evolutionary optimum. In the article, The Spandrels of San Marco and the Panglossian paradigm: a Critique of the adaptationist programme, Gould and Lewontin proposed that developmental and phyletic constraints play a major role in explaining the history of evolution.
In the story the time traveler the time traveler shows similar theories to Charles Darwins theories. Some of those similar theories are that humans will continually evolve. Also natural selections part in evolution. Mr. Darwins theories are explaining the thoughts that are going through the time travelers head.

Johnson compels the reader to see God not as responsible for all of the current working components of nature, but instead providing a starting point for nature to begin, and allowing it to have the freedom to develop, all with the support of God’s love. Prior to Darwin’s theory of evolution, all things created in nature were attributed to God’s direct design. Essentially, “The whole world [reflected] the will of the king who holds sway over his kingdom in a direct way” (Johnson 155). However, a conflict arises in this perspective and the working structure of evolution.
In the book, The Time Machine , the Time Traveller theorizes about how the Morlocks and the Eloi people evolved. Darwin’s theories are reflected in the Time Traveller’s theories on human evolution. One of these theories is that humans will continually evolve. Another theory is that natural selection means that organisms that have the most favorable traits survive, prosper, and maintain those favorable traits. The final theory is that in nature, organisms are limited in their ability to survive, based on how their surrounding climate changes.
Some of Darwin’s influencers were Charles Lyell, Thomas Malthus, and Gregor Mendel, who familiarized him with geology, proposed that the earth was eons of years old, introduced the idea of competition between organisms, and how it affects survival and reproducing, and showed that traits are inherited. Using his observations and scientific influences, Darwin formulated his hypothesis of the Theory of Natural Selection, which was that organisms most adapted to their environment would survive to the next generation and pass on their traits. Natural selection is any external factor that regulates population size. The blueprint for this theory was hereditary variation combined with the struggle for survival through competition would result in the survival of the fittest by natural selection. Darwin attempted to explain natural selection through breeding experiments with pigeons, and recorded other results from breeders of different animals.

Biological variation occurs in all species, and this variation is inherited. There are more those born than there is food to sustain them, there is rivalry between individuals for provisions. Some individuals have differences that are positive for survival, such as additional speed to outflow predators, fight to disease upright vision to locate food resources. These people are more likely to live longer life and produce more offspring than those who have dissimilarities less positive to long life and offspring production.

Animals fascinated Charles Darwin, especially if they were similar but had different traits. Darwin always wondered where and how such creature came to be. Around 1833, people believed that the skeletal remains of an abnormal creature that were found were caused because “Noah’s ark was too small to fit in all the animals.”
1. The theory of evolution by natural selection is a mechanism used to detail how species evolve throughout time. It is not concerned with how the earth was formed, or how living things began, but how the characteristics of these living things advance from generation to generation. Charles Darwin is considered to be the father of evolution by natural selection. Up until this point in time, most naturalist believed that species were created over the course of natural history or that they came into being at the start of the world. In both of these scenarios it was believed that the species remained generally the same throughout time. On the voyage however, Darwin noticed that there were similarities among species all over the globe. There were even variations based on specific locations. These findings led him to believe that the species had evolved over time from a common ancestor.
Charles came up with a new theory that actually made sense. Charles theory was “that all species of organisms arise and develop through the natural selection of small, inherited variations that increase the individual's ability to compete, survive, and reproduce.” His theory caused a stir because of others beliefs that a christian god created living things. The idea that humans may have descended from apes was not meant as a personal insult at anyone, but people took it that way.
