Survival. The. In order to survive an emergency. “So called” experts recommend trying to try and do the best at using all physical, emotional, and intellectual skills because they will help someone survive and can play a big role in overall survival whether the person does or not. For instance, in the poem “Wilderness” by Carl Sandburg he talks about and explains in the text that the more meaningful words an author has in a story and/or any poem, that it will have more meaning and more of an impact on the readers just like he used in his own poem. Miller’s short story/article “Survival is your own responsibility” Daryl R. Miller explains how he is an expert at knowing what to do when people need to know what to do and what not to do when in a situation where a person needs to know how to survive. At the beginning of the story, the man thought he was smarter than the old man, but then bad things started happening to him because he didn’t listen to the advice the old man had given him. He realizes that the old man was right the entire time and starts to regret his decision. So by the man doing this and just overall not listening to the older man, it helps us, the readers, understand how the man has changed. But not for the better. As Jack London says “He was sure to frost his cheeks; he knew that, and experienced a pang of regret that he had not devised a nose-strap of the sort Bud wore in cold snaps.” (London 10). In this quote that Jack London wrote, it shows that the man was regretting his decisions. In order to survive, mentally prepare ahead of time so that bad situations don’t
