As the son of a Comanche chief and a white captive by the name of Cynthia Ann Parker, Quanah Parker rose from the status of a Comanche warrior to their tribal leader. Although not much is known about Parker’s personal life and early years, he plays a vital role in William T. Hagan’s book “Quanah Parker, Comanche Chief”. In this book, Hagan identifies the Comanche Chief through his upbringing to his death, describing his transactions with local Indian agents, presidents, high officials in Washington and the cattlemen of the western United States territory. The author presents the Indian chief as a “cultural broker” between the cultures of the white southerners and his tribal members, presenting a blend of beliefs that are heralded as progressive and traditional as he maintained the control and organization of his tribe. It would have been difficult to understand what the colonies and the British were going through during the revolution. I understand why people, such as, John Dickinson were conflicted when it came to American independence. To add to your reasons why Dickinson felt the way he did towards American independence, Dickinson felt the best thing for the colonies was to form an alliance with Great Britain. He felt one day “provinces would rise up against provinces and cities against cities,” to fight a common enemy, which would result the colonies to resort back to Britain, even though we once rejected them. In addition, he felt that separating us would give us dependence and not independence.
Hillbilly music was the main genre of music for rural white American’s during the 1920’s. During our class discussion of hillbilly music, I immediately related the genre as the birth of country music today. Hillbilly music was an artistic expression by the people of the rural south. This concept is very similar to the country music that is produced today by musicians from the south who write their music based on what it is like to live in the country. During the time period of the 1920’s, Hillbilly music was only produced and sang by white Americans.

King Lear’s three daughters Goneril, Regan and Cordelia are the storyline with King Lear’s illegitimate claim to power. Goneril and Regan side together as Cordelia, the youngest daughter, truly loves her father, while the other two just want the power of control (Davis, 2018). When we think of the American West, we always envision a land of rugged mountains and vast prairie, on which cowboys ride on horseback and chase after the Indians. This is the definition of the American West as presented on big screens in cinema, where most Americans’ perception of the myth of the American West comes from. Myth is a story that represents a culture's values and helps to define the individuals that comprise it. All cultures are based on myths.
