Callarman’s argument is that Chris McCandless made a lot of mistakes because he was arrogant and that he had no business going into Alaska with his Romantic silliness and he says that he was just crazy. I disagree with Callarman’s argument because I think that Chris McCandless (Alexander Supertramp) was not arrogant I think that he just wanted to learn new things. I also disagree because I think that Chris did have a reason to go to Alaska or else he would not have done it even if it just to go because he likes nature, and I don’t think that he was crazy at the beginning but I agree that he did start to get crazy when he was stuck in the wild on the bus. I don’t think that Chris is arrogant I think that he is just a guy who wants to learn new things about nature and just the world in general.
A disability can make someone look at a "disabled" person in a specific way, even though they are just as capable as others of doing things. Some people don't realize the impact someone with a disability can have on the world because they are limited and criticized for their issues. People without disabilities can show what they have, and those with disabilities will never even get past the starting line because of people's biased views on disabilities. After listening to the Ted Talk by Keith Nolan, a private cadet, he established ethos, logos, and pathos through his educational speech on the deaf in the military. In the Ted Talk, Keith Nolan backs up his story with emotion, statistics, credible information, and real-life experience.
In “Harrison Bergeron” the handicaps make all of the citizens exactly the same. The handicaps do not let people be who they really are and actually holds back the citizens ability to do things. It seems like the handicaps actually make it worse for the advanced people because it makes them suffer. “They weren’t really very good-no better than anybody else would have been anyway.... George was toying with the vague notion that maybe dancers shouldn’t be handicapped.
On the viewpoints of legalization on the Baker Institute website, Kevin A. Sabet argues against the legalization of marijuana. Throughout this argument, Sabet brings up opposing facts on the subject and then refutes them. He also uses a logos appeal strategy by using statistics and facts to help back up his views. Kevin t. Keith uses quite a bit of personal anecdotes which unlike his questionable facts helps his argument. He uses personal anecdotes as a way to show his emotional connection and view on the topic. For example when he states “it feels like their family member has been ‘sacrificed’(because of course they do not agree that the treatment would be ‘futile’).” he seems to know what it's like being a family member of a patient whose treatment was futile. n Nancy Mairs essay, “Disability”, she illustrates the lack of representation of people with disabilities in the media. While disability plays a major role in Mairs’ life, she points out the various ways her everyday life is ordinary and even mundane. Despite the normalcy of the lives of citizens with disabilities Mairs argues the media’s effacement of this population, is fear driven. She claims, “To depict disabled people in the ordinary activities of daily life is to admit that there is something ordinary about the disability itself, that it may enter anybody’s life” (Mairs 14). Able bodied people worry about the prospect of eventually becoming physically impaired.
Don’t everyone have different abilities and levels of proficiency? I would argue that everyone that has a disability or not has a ballpark normalcy. I appreciate Lisa Blumberg, sharing her views on her experiences of being a child with a disability. Consequently, she wrote the article solely based on her own experiences and needs as a person with a physical disability. However, Lisa's beliefs may not offer an accurate interpretation of every person that has a disability wants and needs.
Norcross believe that one should not eat meat that is raised in a factory. He uses an argument about torturing puppies and eating their brains. Although his argument about Fred and his extreme cruelty to feel the sensation of eating chocolate is cruel, it puts one in a state of mind to pay close attention to his point. What is his point? Eating animals that are raised in factories are just is cruel as torturing puppies for one’s own pleasure.
Leslie Snyder builds an argument to persuade the audience that exposure to alcohol advertising increases alcohol consumption in youth by using evidence, such as facts or examples, to support her claims. Snyder proves that alcohol related advertising was due to the increase in drinking. Money spent on alcohol related advertising was also due to an increase in drinking. Snyder also explains when an under age drinker is exposed to high levels of alcohol advertisements the results are increased rather than decreased. Snyder uses these few examples to support her claim that the money spent on alcohol advertising and the exposure to alcohol advertising affects alcohol consumption by youth.
I recently read a book titled The Death and Life of Great American Cities written by Jane Jacobs (1962), which basically criticizes the focus and planning processes generally employed in planning the renovation and rebuilding of cities historically and today. In addition, she states that she has identified four criteria necessary to produce exuberant diversity in a city’s streets and districts. This tells me that in order for a city to realize its potential as a resilient, economic and socially viable city and be a place where people want to live and work, these elements should be present. If these elements are present could be an indicator of success for an urbanized environment. I propose to look at the downtown Phoenix area surrounding City Hall, which has and continues to undergo significant rebuilding and revitalization projects in the past several years, in an effort to try and identify the presence or absence of the four elements, all of which are designed to encourage people
In 1971 Harlan Mills put forward an evocative image in response to this question. It was obvious to him that a large software project must be broken up so separate teams can manage discrete pieces. The key to Mills’s argument was that each team should be organized as a surgi- cal team, not a hog-butchering team. In this report I will discuss both the Social and Medical Models, define their pros and cons and give a short reflection on my own opinion of the two models in everyday use today. Both the medical and the social models of disability describe how they see disability and how they feel disabilities and those suffering should be treated. Both models have very different views on the causes of, how disabilities should be taken care of and by whom and both have their strengths and weaknesses when it comes to caring for those with disabilities. These comparable students are a norm reference group that is compose of those with similar culture, background, ethnicity, sex and other characteristics.

Physical disability whether congenital or acquired during phase of life demands time as a person loses independence, social image, relationships, pre-existing roles , loss of components of his/her identity.
