In Robert Kurson’s book, “Shadow Divers,” he reveals how a group of divers solve one of the last mysteries of World War II. Captain Bill Nagle owns the Seeker which is a charter boat that people can rent to take them to shipwrecks. Nagle is a world renowned deep sea shipwreck diver, because he pushes the limits on how far and where divers can go. Nagle has explored some of the most dangerous shipwrecks such as the Andrea Doria and Texas Tower. He has also retrieved various souvenirs from wrecks such as china dishes and the boat’s bell, but Nagle has massive respect for the history of sunken watercraft.
There are times in history that are significant for more than one reason and stand out because of the spark they ignite setting off a chain of other events. Of course to ignite something means the conditions are right to be combustible. The sinking of the U.S.S Maine has come to be one of those events which impacted not only the history of the United States but the world. The U.S.S. Maine, its voyage and ultimate annihilation led to the Spanish-American War.

America mobilized as fast as it could, establishing training camps, such as Camp Fremont in Menlo Park and Camp Kearny (now Miramar Naval Air Station) north of San Diego. Los Angeles tried to locate the camp closer, protesting that San Diego had too much crime. The government didn’t listen. San Diego was chosen and a camp was created from a dry desolate area. The brush and sand mesas were so out in the country that long after taps, soldiers were serenaded with coyotes.

Levi and Catharine Coffin Levi Coffin was a Quaker born on Oct. 28, 1798 on a farm in New Garden, N.C., the only son of seven children born to Levi Coffin and Prudence Williams “The Coffin’s.” Levi mutually shared his hatred for slavery with both his parents and grandparents they all were opposed to slavery, Coffin noted in his memoirs published in 1876, “and none of either of the families ever owned slaves; and all were friends of the oppressed, so I claim that I inherited my anti-slavery principles.” As a teenager, Levi first opportunity to help free slaves came when a man by the name Stephen Holland brought a group of slaves to the corn husking.
Bobby Seale, also known as, Robert Seale, was born on October 22, 1936, in Dallas, Texas (Encyclopædia Britannica, 2000). Bobby initially grew up in Texas, and then his family later moved to California. He went to high school in the Oakland, California area. During high school, Bobby became interested in politics. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, but he was dishonorably discharged because of an altercation with a superior officer.
Sinking to the bottom of the ocean can signify that, that person is giving up and that they are not willing to fight anymore. Jeannette Walls was raised by parents that believed that their children should learn from their own mistakes. The Walls children were put in danger by their parents various times, just so they could understand that they should not depend on anybody but themselves; the Walls children were taught that living life holding on to the edge could prevent them to take risky chances and lose the chance of having success. In the book “The Glass Castle” written by Jeannette Walls, Rex Walls describes to Jeannette that “If you don’t want to sink, you better figure out how to swim. ”(Walls 66).
Two boys are arrested, same crime, same charge, and same bondage amount, one of the boys gets to return to his home that same night; the other sits in jail for the rest of the night. Why is this you ask, so what’s the difference? The jail bond, the bond made all the difference. One boy’s parents could afford the bond amount and the other boys parents could not. Jail bonds are the specified amount of money an accused person must pay to get out of jail as soon as possible while awaiting trial.
With every step this figure continued to take, the ground shook as if the man were made of stone. With the light finally revealing the ominous figure, it came to be that it was Captain Hook. Confident with every step he took, he and his gang of pirates were in search of Peter Pan.
Over the years, African Americas have experienced and went through a lot. They went through discrimination, slavery, cruelty, etc. African americans have had several people be there voice and help fight for their freedom such as Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Nelson Mandella, and many others. One person who turned out to be a voice for African Americans was a man named James Weldon Johnson. With his talent and his strong mind and heart, he became a voice for the African Americans in a different way than others.
For my research paper, I want to explore how people born into poverty are resilient and hardworking individuals, opposed to lazy and hopeless individuals. This issue was seen in Jeannette Walls’ memoir The Glass Castle throughout her childhood until she went to New York. During her childhood, Jeanette and her siblings were bullied. They were bullied because their clothes looked ratty, they looked greasy, and often times eat out of the garbage because their parents didn’t have enough money to buy food.

The ‘founder’ of the Shackleton family was Abraham Shackleton. Abraham was a profound Quaker born in Kildare County, Ireland. The Shackleton family originated in the English country of the Yorkshire and consisted of pure Anglo-Irish blood.
Era Of 1901- 1925 America is the land of the free and home of the brave. Americans have experienced highs and lows. A certain era has experienced more than it’s full share of both celebrations and tragedies. The era of 1901-1925 was significant to America. It was significant to America because of the development of the National Football League (NFL) , the Titanic tragedy, and the invention of the first television set.
Federal Bureau of Prisons Federal Bureau is one of the biggest Federal law enforcement agencies throughout the United State. It also organizes some unions with private corporations to operate a number of institutions. According to their statistics, overall, they have ‘196,352 Inmates’ and ‘39,951 employees’ throughout the globe. The Federal Bureau of prisons system was first established by the Department of Justice in late 19th century and the prisons established in early 20th century.
